The square is dominated by the Basilica of Santissima Annunziata, one of the most important churches in Florence, which gives it its name. It has porticoes on three sides and in its center stands the imposing statue of Ferdinando I de' Medici on horseback.
I don't give full marks due to the road surface being unfortunately even more bumpy than that of other areas of the historic centre, so much so that crossing it in a wheelchair is extremely difficult.

It is the large quadrangular square that develops in front of the church of the same name, embellished by the imposing equestrian monument dedicated to Ferdinand I and two small twin fountains. Surrounded by rather low porticoed buildings, it has an almost perfect symmetry. Personally it didn't seem particularly fascinating to me but it still remains appreciable as a whole. Being in this square, the beautiful church of Santissima Annunziata, including its cloister and the small Chapel of San Luca, and the archaeological museum are worth a visit.

I wonder why the graffiti were English. They were distributed elsewhere in the city, so the creater must have much time and energy. Is he or she Italian of foreigne(no wonder Japanese I suppose)?

Such a lovely piazza with the bronze Equestrian statue of Ferdinando and two fountains in the center. The church of della Santissima Annunziata and Ospedale degli Innocenti are the most notable sights on the square, which looked very atmospheric and a bit sad on a rainy day in December.

This is a wonderful building, probably one of the oldest orphanage in the world and the museum has beautiful works of arts (as any building in Florence frankly) but they also provide great exhibitions like the current one on Escher. The best thing is that this place is much quieter than anything else…such a privilege!

This plaza was not as busy as some , and away from the usual tourist areas of Florence and quite interesting with its historic building and church , the main feature the bronze statue of Fernando I de Medici, the Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1587.

Piazza della Santissima Annunziata is not as crowded as other city areas. There are not many attractions like others.

Magical at night with the lighting. The orphanage is interesting. You will see the little window where people used to drop off lost or abandon children where they stayed until parents came to claim them or they went to foster care. The Church/ convent is beautiful and another building has been converted to a hotel.. Architecture is stunning. This is arguably the oldest unspoiled Renaissance square in Italy, so quiet and peaceful after dark. Walk toward the Duomo and pass a darn good Chinese restaurant too.....

Reasonable size with little to see (statue and 2 fountains aside) but peaceful and important from an architectural perspective with the Annunziata church on one side and the Orphanage on another. Colonnade represents some of the Renaissance’s earliest architecture. Visit the square and look at the terracotta roundels on the orphanage facade.

The piazza itself is a bit plain with only an equestrian statue in the middle, but it packs a punch in terms of the views and history. On one side is the Annunziata basilica. On the other is the Ospedale degli Innocenti, designed by Brunelleschi to kick off his Renaissance architecture revolution. We have uploaded the view on a third side, looking down the Via dei Servi straight at the Duomo, also by Brunelleschi so neatly tying up his two masterpieces.

Is there currently renovations taking place to buildings surrounding the Piazza Della Santissima Annunziata? And are the Duomo and the Baptistry free of construction now as well?

Hello, sorry for the huge delay. No construction while I was there
