Nice small train station in Florence
I loved this train station. It is not that big like other cities in Europe and was the center piece of Florence. My hotel was next door, so it was easy to find my way home at night. It has nice restaurants and shops inside.

Close to what you want to do and see
We took a high-speed train from Milan to Florence and another from Florence to Rome. The station is central to Florence, and it is an easy walk to hotels, tour buses, restaurants, and the leather district, as well as to the two main attractions, i.e. David at Academia and the Uffizi Art Museum.

Pretty Standard Large Italian Train Station
Primary train station in Florence located very close to Basilica Santa Maria Novella, and within a five minute walk of the market, 10 minute walk to Accademia, and a fifteen minute walk to Ponte Vecchio. The station is very large and all of the bins are arranged in one line at the ground level - no need for stairs. There are numerous shops within the station and a large parking lot up front. There is also a good baggage storage if you are only making a quick stop and do not want to drag your bags around the city. AS a tip, use the baggage storage counter on the outside of the station. The inside counter always seems to have a long line.

Conveniently located near the Historic Centre of Florence
Have used SMN for train travel across Italy a handful of times over the past couple of decades. It is a fairly busy station with numerous arrival and departures to other popular destinations around the country. Given the relative small size of Florence it is fairly convenient to travel by foot to/from most hotels around the Historic Centre of Florence as well. Plenty of taxis available if preferred but walking is just fine if you don't have too much luggage. Station is fitted with quite a few self-use ticket machines. You'll find traditional manned booths for ticket purchase as well but seems these might be credit card purchase only now. The departure platforms are now located within a secure area behind a glassed entryway. Show or scan your tickets and you can enter and walk over to respective platform once it is showing on the board.

    Conveniently located
Conviently located train station between Milan and Rome. We stopped off in Florence for a few days while traveling between the two. Quite close to several hotels and major attractions of Florence. We found it a bit challenging to catch up with taxis and other members of our party due to the free for all just outside. Inside there are really no good places to wait for the trains.

I am disabled, I went to use the disabled facilities as I needed the support from the bars on either side of the toilet. The disabled toilet was unlocked and there was a queue of people to use it in which I waited. When I went in to use the toilet a woman from the facilities staff began screaming at me first that I don’t belong there and that I needed to get out immediately (whilst I was in the middle of my business) she then proceeded to scream obscenities at me and dragged me out by my arm. Apparently there is a bell that is hidden in the light switch and she would have unlocked the bathroom there were 0 signs advising this as you can see by my photos. I was verbally abused, discriminated against and humiliated for using a bathroom that was already unlocked and others were using and that I am entitled to use! I reported this to the guards outside the bathroom and apparently she has done this before. If you are disabled run for the hills. Worst customer service and disabled facilities I have EVER experienced in my life. Grandi Stazioni BE ASHAMED

The lack of spaces to store your luggage inside the train car was shocking after we boarded the train from this station.

Big train station in Florence. We took the train from Florence to Rome. I would not recommend unless you have only carry on bags or upgraded to First Class. our travel agent booked us on the next tier down from first class and we were under the impression we would have storage for 4 large suitcases. We were so wrong. There is some storage areas between the cars but it is first come and the storage area is minimal. The areas above the seats would not even fit my backpack and the seats are narrow so it is hard to roll a suitcase through the aisles. Would not use if you have lots of luggage. The actual train station and train ride were fine
