About
The Leonardo Interactive Museum is a fully interactive museum in Florence dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. It houses a vast collection of machines designed by the Universal Genius in his famous "Codices." Located in the heart of Florence's historic center, near the Cathedral and the Accademia Gallery, the museum offers a unique experience. Visitors can operate the prototypes to understand their workings and delve into Da Vinci's mechanical mind. The museum also has a section for educational workshops, where visitors can build some of Leonardo's most important designs. A visit to the museum reveals the extraordinary mind of this exceptional man, showcasing impressive life-sized inventions, including his famous "war machines," the "civil engineering machines" like Brunelleschi's crane, and the "flying machines," representing Leonardo's ambitious dream of flight.

Neighbourhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

- MicheleZurich, Switzerland142 contributionsRecommendable for families with kids, tech nerds but crowded placeIt is a good place to spend half an afternoon and learn in a hands on way about Leonardo‘s inventions. The museum has two rooms full of his machines and they can all be touched to understand the system behind which is kinda cool! Only problem is that it gets full, loud and crowded with kids fairly fastVisited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 December 2023

- toslJersey City, New Jersey971 contributionsInteractive and funI was told to make reservations but my daughters and I walked right in at 10 AM on a Saturday. Bigger than I thought, it was 4 rooms filled with Da Vinci's inventions and most of them worked. It was a nice change from looking at art and a great way to learn about one of the Renaissance masters. A must-see, especially with kids.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 April 2024

We visited this museum with a 50% discount by purchasing tickets online at 7.90 euros per person. The museum is not very big, but it takes about 1 hour to visit. Some of Leonardo's inventions are on display. The interesting thing is that they can be tried with due caution. The route is characterized by panels in different languages with explanations. Also useful is the audio guide that can be downloaded from your smartphone with QR code provided at the entrance. The bathrooms need improvement. Very kind lady at the ticket office. High bookshop prices.

We stumbled upon this gem of a museum. Whilst it's not very big it packs a fair bit inside. Cost is €7 per adult and inaide are a variety of exhibitions which you can interact with, all of which are explained in many languages, for those who can understand English but not read there are audio guides.

We took the tour of the 2 Museums. Kind of a package deal 7 Euro's for the first, 3 for the second. 2 Different building very near by. Actual models of Leonardo's plans were brought to life. Some models were hands on. Very nice for old and young alike... There is also a more Academic Museum, but we did not go there...

Firstly be aware that the interactive exhibition and the Museum are two completely separate places - even though they are just around the corner from each other, and tickets for one will not give you entry to the other either. If you book online, you choose a timed entry and they will not let you in before that either, and the same applies when you buy a ticket on site. It becomes very clear as to why when you get in - the space is very limited. The exhibition divided opinion in our little group. As a retired science teacher with a love of history, I loved it and found it fascinating. My primary school teacher daughter found it instructional/ interesting, while my sports loving not science devoted twelve yr old grand daughter was momentarily interested in a few exhibits e.g. Archimede's screw, it did not grab her interest all that much. Most of the really engaged kids around were boys. male teenagers, or young adults who seemed to be budding engineers! If that's what you are into, then this a good place for you. We did not visit the museum next door, so I do not know what that is like.

This is quite a small museum so spent just over an hour here. Lots of fun activities but interesting as well. The activities helped you learn a lot about Leonardo and his wonderful inventions. There was also a small gallery with his paintings that were digitally produced eg, the Mona Lisa and the last supper. Wasn't to crowded as there was timed entry tickets, which meant that we could interact with each exhibit. The children enjoyed it as it was a change from traditional art galleries and they could interact.

We had a great time, young and old (children, teenagers and adults), manipulating and understanding the inventions for the most part that remained at the project stage, of that genius that was Leonardo da Vinci. The explanations are available in French, English, Spanish, Italian, German and Russian, which is not often the case in Italy. The Award is very reasonable and we did not need to buy tickets in advance. A little more, the Museum is air-conditioned, convenient in high heat.

Interesting to see all of Da Vinci's inventions, but not much more. Quite a small museum that doesn't take too long to go through, yes if you have to stop at every gadget it will take a bit longer. You could also try many things. There are special rooms for children where they can play and try different fun things.

I was walking down the street and came across this museum. I was a little worried about paying for the ticket considering it could have been a tourist trap with a bunch of junk. It turns out it was a good purchase - even if it was a tourist trap (it's not). You get to see and work with many of DaVinci's inventions. Some of which he never built, just designed. Kids will enjoy this; I know this big kid did.

Hay dos museos de Leonardo da Vinci en Florencia?? Cuál es más interactivo
Written 5 June 2019

I've noticed two Leonardo da Vinci Museums: One located on Via Camillo Cavour 21, and the other on Via dei Servi 66. Can anyone confirm this and explain the difference in exhibitions?
