I found completely by accident, but it's definately one of the top 3 churches in Florence. It's completely overwhelming, it's absolutely great. It's about 10 minutes walk from the Duomo, but you will find it absolutely worth it. A must see!

There were many prayerful worshipers when we visited. We were the only "tourists" that I could see - so be sure you are respectful of the worshipers. There was construction just inside the entry way - you need to go to the left to get...More

It looks simple and non impressive from the outside. But the big surprises are inside. Starting from the entrance with the decorated glass roof and wall paintings all around. It continues inside the basilica where there is no piece of wall free from decoration: paintings...More

I expected to be dazzled by the interior of this church based on things I had read. I was not. Nice enough, but there are lots of better churches to see in Florence.

Great mosaic floors, feeling of ages passed long ago. Why not, if it takes only 20 minutes of your time and you are already in the Duomo?

A lovely church that we really enjoyed looking around - it looks very simple from the outside, but once you get into the main part of the church, it is literally dripping in gold Lovely place

This is a lovely church, worth stopping into when in Florence. The frescos are beautiful and the architecture is unique, particularly in the large, open entry room.

Fantastic interior, though it looks unassuming / unexciting from the inside. Wonderful precisely because it is so hidden away. Actually loved this place a lot more than some of the more famous (and therefore more crowded) basilicas/ chiesas around Florence. The inside had much more...More

The Church of the Santissima Annunziata is worth seeing. The interior is beautiful and there is plenty of art. I especially enjoyed seeing the frescoes on the walls. The golden ceiling was decorated between 1664 and 1670 to a design by Baldasarre Franceschini, known as...More

At the Northeastern side of the piazza lies this gem. The piazza is out of the way, at the end ov Via de Servi, with only one small hotel and sandwich shop on one corner. This is a local church, a medium size cathedral that...More

The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a
stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence,
surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking
students provides the tranquil surroundings for the
elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read
the daily newspaper. Home to several universities,
including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one
of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A
