This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

It's a walk but you can beat the view of Firenze from this piazza. Make sure you go at sunset, the city at night is very pretty.

You can drive or walk up the hill to the Piazzale. The walk up the stairs was nice, but can be a little strenuous. You can see the best views of Florence from here too. It's worth it to swing by if you have time. There are street vendors and some art displays.

The best thing about this piazzale are the great views that get from this area. The views are amazing over the whole of Florence. There is also a copy of the statue of David but it is just a copy - go and see the real one.

Very busy with all the tourists but well worth going there to see the views of Florence across the river.

It is a very steep walk up to the top, but the views are worth it. The square itself is dirty and just like a massive empty car park.

Probably the best view in town, even if it might get crowded. The neighbourhood is lovely too. If you want a more quiet panoramico you can walk 10 more minutes from piazzale Michelangelo to San Miniato al Monte church.

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighbourhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
