This 19th century piazza has undoubtedly the best panoramic view of Florence. The square is decorated with copies of Michelangelo's sculptures, but it's the view people come here to see.

We walked up to the Piazzale Michaelangelo on our first evening in Florence. We made the walk just before sunset and it was gorgeous! Would definitely recommend! Some tips: - If you are trying to visit the Piazzale at sunset, remember the sun will set...More

A bustling, noisy square with a fab vista of Florence. Walk up through the Rose Gardens to get there and have a drink in the restaurant opposite to finish off the trek.

After spending some time on the train, this was the perfect activity to stretch our legs a bit. It's about a 20-25 minute walk from the Duomo. The stairs are definitely a workout, so definitely bring some water. The views are absolutely incredible. There are...More

I highly recommend anyone visiting Florence to walk or ride to Pizzale Michelangelo. The view is outstanding. The walk is challenging but well worth it. A view not to miss!

The view is brilliant, of course, and gives tourists respite from the right streets of Florence. We hiked here from Santa Croce; honestly not too bad but definitely have water. If you don't, there are plenty of merchants at the top happy to sell you...More

Don't be afraid to cross the road, walk up to the monastery, see the cathedral and cemetery above the Piazzale Michelangelo! Views even more spectacular than at the Piazzale. The cathedral AND the cemetery worth a look through. See the stunning monument dedicated to a...More

If you are walking, expect to get a workout (bring water if hot outside). It was worth the effort, however, as the view was spectacular. The statue was alright, but nothing compared to the real David. Nevertheless, go up to the Piazzale Michelangelo to see...More

If you're in Florence you need to go to Piazza Michelangelo at least once! I went both during the day and at night. If you walk, be aware there are a lot of stairs to reach the piazza. However, I went with an 82 year...More

Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale
Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by

elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and
breathtaking view of the entire city from above.

There are a number of routes up, including the Nos 12 & 13 buses. The paths are a mixture of flat, sloping & deep steps. As previously said, there is a longer winding path or you could follow the road. I'd get the No12 bus... More
