My advice: if you visit Florence, go here first.
The view is breathtaking, it's instead of any map you receive.
I also recommend to go on sunset and stay there for a couple of hours. You could benefit of an instant party with great italian...More
The overlook at this stop is stunning. The large statue of David sits in the middle of vendors of all the souvenirs. The overview of every bit of the city is beautiful. Everything from the duomo to the clock tower and all the roof tops....More
This is the best promontory from which to see the entire city spread below you. The river flows at your feet and the hills are at your back. There are some great little shops around the piazza and the replica of David is a neat...More
This is a great lookout to take in the panorama of Florence by day, at sunset and especially at night. The views over the city are breathtaking and well worth the trip up the hill to see it.
We saw it on a clear night...More
Only a ten minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge (though it looks further). Awesome park high up on a hill offering a fantastic view of Florence! Or Firenze. You can see the bridge, a bunch of clock towers, at least 50 churches. Anyway, the...More
This was a highlight for us in Florence. It has wonderful views across the city and although busy had a peaceful atmosphere we just spent time sitting and looking. Very difficult to put into words how relaxing it was. It was also easily accessible on...More
We walked from our apartment through the city over the river and started to clime .It took some time and a lot of sweat to reach the top but it is worth the effort.

The view of Florence from the Piazzale Michelangelo will take your breath away. It is a fair walk, but a short cab ride. It is worth the time because the view and serenity of this location are without description. Fantastic place to take pictures you...More
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides
visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
Yes can sit outside and drink wines.
trouble always finds its way around but just be aware!
walked nearly everywhere. from the bridge to top of the piazza about 30-45mins.
I hope you enjoy it all in firenza.

I took a golf cart tour service called Verde Oliva. It lasted about 90 to 120 minutes and we got to see the main attractions all over Florence. One of them was Piazzale MIchelangelo. The driver knew the best spot for pictures and was a great paparazzi too. I would ask them to finish the tour up there, bring a bottle of wine, cups and some treats. Watch the sunset up there, then walk down to town (it only takes 20 minutes and it is a beautiful walk).
