Neighbourhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

Nice little museum attributed to Dante. Not his actual home, but thought to have maybe housed him/his family for a time in history. There are many steps to the second/third floors, and no elevator service, so if you have mobility difficulties, it might be a challenge to access. Nice display of reproductions of writings.

If you're familiar with Dante, then this is a great stop to make. Even if you're not familiar, it's a simple museum that offers a respite from most of the nearby crowds and sites. There are stairs though, so be aware. You're given access to the tower where Dante lived for a time and can ascend to the top and view the multiple exhibits and interactive displays. There are some great displays with explanations of Dante's life and what took place during his time. Thoroughly enjoyable museum.

Very interesting visit to learn a bit more of Dante and his works.
They make great use of the works they have of the writer with good presentation and interactive displays in both Italian and English .
Also some good timelines of his life and the times in which he lived. We definitely learned more about Dante visiting there then we did beforehand.
A little hidden gem.

This is a great small but very modern museum. If you admire Dante and if you had read his famous La Divina Comedia, then you have to go. It is really inexpensive, compare with the very other expensive museums in Italy. It is place in Dante's house, although is not like other writer museums in which you found a lot of old furniture. Here technology has give a hand to imagine what the time erased. The museum is all interactive. Don't miss it.

Dante’s family was alleged to have lived somewhat in this group of buildings. That is the only point of reference or connection to the poet. This “museum” is, sad to say, a non-event. Save your time and eight euros and walk on by.

My husband and I loved this! We had some extra time before an afternoon tour and we were able to take our time getting ready in the morning and visit this museum. No lines, quiet, and great way to kill some extra time.

Good for an introduction to Dante life and work. Museum also gives you a good sense of Florence at the time he lived there. Exhibits are fun and interactive and are all in both English and Italian. You need about an hour to look around the museum.

I have read Dante and sometimes teach the Inferno. I was very interested in visiting this museum. I learned more about the chaotic times in which he lived and worked. Like Shakespeare, Dante left few artifacts behind except his words and characters, which continue to resonate across the centuries. I left with a much fuller understanding of his life and the historic context of his most famous works.

A waste of time and money in Florence. There are some artifacts about Dante. Mostly, the museum is about the time period Dante lived. Too little is devoted to the works of Dante.

Do not waste your time on this ‘museum’. The ‘exhibits’ looked like grade school projects. There is a dagger which may, but likely did not, belong to Dante. The dagger was found in a field near Florence though . . . So it’s got that going for it!
