It is a breathtaking building and plaza - it is a must see on your trip to Rome. We were unable to climb the tower but was still happy to see.

The crowds are overwhelming but this is the main event. There is so much to see and explore. Just hold on to your belongings to avoid pick pockets and take in as much as you can!

The building itself is stunning - both architecturally and the colors of the marble. It is lovely to sit in the piazza and watch the crowds, have a drink, and just take it all in

Ensure ladies cover your shoulders and shorts or skirts below knees to avoid peddlers trying to sell you scarves to cover yourselves as a requirement for entry. Absolutely worth the visit!

I think you should go and see the night view as well. Simply beautiful! Can't get enough of the place. I stayed 6 nights and went there almost everyday to get a different feel.

Our first afternoon in Florence we toured the cathedral with its famous dome. We did not climb up the dome itself (or the campanile), but you can make reservations to do that. In addition to touring the church, our Florence pass got us free admission...More

We were left stunned by the beauty of Florence and the Piazza here surpasses that of Milan find a seat in the shade and just absorb the beauty.

Setting aside the touristy nature of the area, there are many views of the Duomo from the Piazza. I recommend seeing this area early in the day, or later on when the crowds are lighter.

Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by
an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city.
The historic center is characterized by the immensity
of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the
brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does
not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni
Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is
enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city

You can visit it any time of the day. The restaurants in the piazza are open till late and you can always walk down the nearby roads and find lots of stalls for road side shopping.
