This building with its high ceilings, round arches, muted but tasteful symbolic decorations, airy, personable interiors is THE Renaissance symbol to visit, admire, reflect over and cherish.

After our visit of the magnificent Basilica di Santa Croce, we walked outside into the first cloister and found the beautiful Cappella dei Pazzi. The Pazzi Chapel was built between 1441 and 1478 and is considered an early Renaissance masterpiece. The wealthy Pazzi family commissioned...More

Understated, early Renaissance, formality and elegance. Very nice to witness in person. It is difficult to imagine how radical this was when the architect designed it. Brava, Brunelleschi!

The Pazzi Chapel has some interesting history, but the edifice itself pales relative to the Basilica di Santa Croce, of which it is a part.

Designed by Brunelleschi, the Chapel and its dome reflect both the aspirations of Florence and the renaissance ideals of coherence and perfection. It is at once serene and awe-inspiring. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you are in the Church of Santa Croce anyway.
