Our group was led by Giovanni, who is extremly knowledgeable and passionate about his job as a tour guide. I can't recommend him, and Walks of Italy highly enough. Was skightly disappointed with the Colosseum as most of it has been pillaged over the centuries, but it's still a must see.

David and the Duomo (Best of Florence Walking Tour) is a must. But I think the "best of Florence" refers to Charles, who must truly be the best guide anywhere: knowledgeable, personable, articulate, eloquent. He talks about political intrigue and art history with the same easy manner - as if the artists and patrons are all his personal friends and... More

This was by far our best tour in Italy. Our historian was so very knowledgeable about David and the Duomo and our tour was full of great information. Such a great tour as I would recommend it highly to those who are interested.

Angelo was a truly terrific guide; knowledgeable, friendly, humorous and genuinely passionate about his job. He presented us with a unique perspective on Michelangelo's David which was very interesting. He also provided many tips that only a Florentine would possess. We left the tour feeling satisfied, educated and cultured. If the other guides are anything like Angelo, then you are... More

Wonderful tour guides. Every guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Our family was in Italy for 16 days and took a lot of tours. City Walk tours were definitely the best tours available.

We had an amazing guide , he took us to a different vision to watch David not with eyes but with mind, however I disliked the fact you are not allowed to take video of your tour due to some copyright issue our guide said, that was disappointing :(

We just returned from our trip to Italy for the past two weeks Our tour was excellent. I placed a great amount of value on this particular tour given to us by Paolo Silvi Antonini. Not only he was thorough, it was enjoyable. Paolo has a great command on the subjects and his demeanor and conveyance were excellent. I learned... More

Francesco was our driver and guide. He made is feel like we were hanging out with an old friend. Given that it is close to Christmas (it was Dec 23rd), it was not easy following the tour description of visiting a farm and having wine / cheese tasting. However, it was not our focus although it would have been nice... More

I am giving this tour five stars para el fantastico Ishmael. Great tour guide! The tour was nice and focused on David. For the price, would have expected to see 'Venus'. Florence is beautiful!

Dear Alex H, Thank you for taking the time to review our Best of Florence with Ishmael! We are thrilled to read you had such a great time and found Florence to be so beautiful. Unfortunately the service you booked does not cover the Uffizi and thus Botticelli's Venus, but this gives you one more reason to come back! We... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
