This small church could be easily missed, even though it is just off Ponte Vecchio. Please take time to go inside and put a Euro in the machine and hear about the Deposition Of Christ fresco by Jacopo Pontormo. It is very unusual. This church is dark, cool and peaceful, I was very happy to retreat into the interior on... More

I felt a feeling of peacefulness and there were not many people to spoil my visit. It was beautiful. I loved being able to spend time with my thoughts here.

This lovely little church is well worth a visit, it was incredibly peaceful, it almost felt like we were meditating in there when we sat down for a few mins. For some reason I got tearful in there and I don't know why, as soon as we left I was fine. Strange but lovely!

If you are an admirer of Mannerist painting and of Pontormo's work, this small and often forgotten church in Florence is the home of his most famous work: Deposition . It is in the chapel on the right as you enter the church. If you are lucky it might be lighted. It has a light that you can activate with... More

A charming little church just near the Ponte Vecchio. It has a lovely Pontormo painting, the Deposition. Don't miss it.

This place is less than 2 min from the pote vecchio (on the side of the palazzo pitti) and directly below the corridoio vasariano, liking the palazzo pitti and the uffizii. From the corridoio, the medici could attend the mess in this church (without beeing seen from below). What makes it special is the chapel to the right of the... More

Spending a day in Florence from Rome by train, in late afternoon we crossed The Ponte Vecchio and by then did not have sufficient time to give due attention to the Pitti Palace. Walking on from the bridge we came to Santa Felicita which was unknown to us and decided to go in, drawn by the outside information relating to... More

It's easy to feel overwhelmed with the sheer number of gorgeous churches and spectacular artwork everywhere you turn in Florence, and I could understand the temptation to just walk by this one on your way to somewhere else, but I highly recommend you pause and step inside for a few moments. The church itself is beautiful, but the real reason... More

Staying in Pitti

Neighbourhood Profile
Pitti is a neighborhood characterized by art and history. Renaissance architecture such as Pitti Palace, which houses five museums alone, introduces visitors to the green lungs of spectacular Boboli Gardens. Any visitor can wander through statues, fountains, and panoramic viewpoints. Around the garden, treasures like the Museum of Natural History of the Specola and Villa Bardini guide guests through Florence as the cradle of the Renaissance. End the day with an aperitif in Piazza della Passera or the more romantic Forte di Belvedere, which offers an amazing panoramic view of the entire city.
