Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a 15-metre tall obelisk monument located in the small public square called Piazza dell' Unita Italiana which is just a couple minutes walk southeast of SMN rail station. The monument commemorates those who fell during the battles for independence (1821-70) and Unification of Italy and was erected in 1882. You will see additional plaques added to the base of the monument recognising those lost during later conflicts. It is a touching war memorial that you may pass by in route to the rail station or when arriving into Florence from rail travel elsewhere and is worth a few minutes to view if you have the time.

This is a lovely obelisk we stumbled upon while strolling in the streets of Florence.
While it's not particularly overwhelming, it's still worth a quicj look.

This is mostly a large obelisk statue in the middle of the square. I would think the main reason you would want to visit this square is not due to the statue, but instead due to the fact that across the street is where you can catch the tram to the airport.

…worth a look…this obelisk in Piazza dell'Unità in Florence!!…it was inaugurated to celebrate the achieved political unity of the peninsula!!…and this obelisk placed in the center of the Square…is dedicated to the fallen of the three wars of independence !!…it certainly does not go unnoticed!!…also because it reaches a total height of 15 meters!!…it is quite particular!!…with various decorative elements!!…and with white marble slabs…where writings can be read in bronze...in relief!!...exactly where the obelisk is now...in the midst of the Napoleonic era!!...there was the guillotine stage!!...practically at the time of French domination in Italy!!...the obelisk in the Piazza of the Unification in Florence!!… nowadays it is said that it is a tribute to all the fallen of the wars!!… and not only to those of the Risorgimento!!… and it seems like the right thing to me!!… LET'S NOT FORGET!! …
