It was quite the trek in flip flops, but it was worth it! It's all about the view - but the Fortezza has interesting aspects to it as well. Since it is far from the city center, there aren't as many people and you can...More

OK so there are not so much to look at inside the fortress but just looking at the building and imagining how it was used was enough for me. I was also lucky since there were two exhibitions at the time. You will also get...More

Travelling from Roma to Venezia we wanted to stop and enjoy something new in Tuscany. On previous trips we've been to Firenze, Lucca, Pisa, Sienna - and, wanted to avoid the crowds but still enjoy a worthwhile experience. Cortona was it. We spent the better...More

Well worth the walk up to Fort Girifalco and the €5 or €3 (Seniors) entry to walk around the fort whether there is an exhibition on or not. The history is written on large information boards in both Italian and English. Stop at the Sanctuary...More

Lovely views from the top, including around the ramparts of the fort. They could have had a few more info panels but its a nice destination for your stroll around Cortona. You will earn your lunch walking up and down...

While we were in Cortona there was a photography exhibit at the Fortezza di Girifalco. We bought tickets and explored every nook and cranny of the castle that we could get to. We were able to walk about the top of the walls around the...More
