I had the privilege of attending the cannoli cooking class all by myself. I had a private teacher, Giovanni, just for me. Everything was well prepared, very professional yet convivial atmosphere. I felt very welcome. The class itself was extremely fun to do, with tips and tricks from the master himself. I would highly recommend!!!

My stunning girlfriend bought this class for me as a birthday present and we both had an incredible time. The chef Giovanni greeted us at the door and was so friendly and relaxed. We were offered coffee straight away and we sat down for a chat to begin with. His English was fantastic so had no language barrier at all.
He had everything set out ready for us so after washing our hands we were ready to get going. He explained everything perfectly as we were going along and made it a lot of fun. He also had a batch of dough ready made to show us what we were aiming for. As well as the dough we also prepared two types of filling.
As we were cutting out our circles of dough Giovanni was putting the off cuts straight in the fryer and when they were ready he drizzled Nutella over the top for us to snack on!
Once the dough was wrapped around the tubes we put them in the fryer and Giovanni showed us the art of getting an even colour all over. Once they’d cooled we filled them with our two types of filling and dipped the ends in pistachio crumbs and chocolate chips. A quick sprinkling of icing sugar and they were ready.
We then sat in the outside seating area and again Giovanni offered us coffee and juice, as well as water, and we sat and munched our way through the HUGE plate of cannolis we had just created. As amazing as they were we couldn’t finish them all so they wrapped them up for us to take away.
Would thoroughly recommend this class to anyone, as well as the town of Taormina which was just gorgeous. My girlfriend tells me booking the class with the owner Stefano was easy and he was really friendly. Can’t recommend enough!

Luca the chef was great. He made the experience very enjoyable. We made fresh pasta, sauce, swordfish, parmigiana, sardines 2 ways and whole fish. There were just 3 of us and there was enough food and wine for at least twice as many. You ate what you cooked and other than the pasta it was great. Pasta is not so easy to make consistently and the different sizes we made meant it was inconsistent consistency, but that was part of the fun! Only negative was as we did the 630pm as opposed to 10am tour the market was closed and was not part of tour. So if want great food and fun come on this tour.

Our teenage son did a Pizza making class with 6 other people. It was early in the morning and we dropped him off at the restaurant. Everyone at the place was great and welcoming. They offered us coffee and food, even thou we were not a part of a class and did not pay for it. The class lasted about 4 hours and we were able to explore Toarmina, beautiful BTW. When we came to pick him up, the Chief insisted that we tried the pizza and cannoli and pasta. It was soooo tasty! Eddy had tons of fun, he loved it! The chief even sent email with Thank you note and all the recopies, great touch! Everyone at the company (especially Giovanna and Alexandra) was very helpful and assisted every step of the way. Definitely a 5 Star experience!

We were looking for a different type of experience while docked in Messina on the MSC Seaview. We signed up for the 10AM cooking class with Port Messina. We got off the ship as soon as the doors opened and had a driver lined up with Sicily Tours di C. Egitto, whom I would not recommend. I would definitely have transportation prearranged, but I would vet companies with high recommendations. We headed into Taormina and had time to shop around both before and after the cooking class. Giovanni was an AMAZING instructor, Everything was organized and ready for us, and he was so kind. What a great experience. We made our cannolis, learned quite a bit, ate a ton, sat outside with our creations and ate the best cannolis we have ever had, made by our own hands from scratch. It was a 2 hour class, and Giovanni's English was great. They sent us the recipe and we plan to try making them on our own at home. Wishing I could go back and try the longer cooking class, where you go to the market together. Maybe one day! Excellent experience!!! Highly recommend~

We arrived at 10:15 at Porta Messina Pizzeria right on the junction. Luca the host gave a great welcome and provided a drink with some strawberries, cherries and biscotti. We were given an apron which was also souvenir to be taken away. We then made some bread. Whilst that was baking in the oven we made macaroni. Once the bread was done we sat and ate that with some cheese , salami etc with a drink ( wine ,soft drinks). We made pizza dough and then made the pizzas from previously proved dough and placed them in the oven. We then sat and had our pizzas , the macaroni, and some cannoli . we were given more drinks and lemoncello and coffee if we wanted it!! An enjoyable few hours. Thanks to Luca and his team and to Kim, Piet , Laura and Erik who were on the same course

The chef was very informative, welcoming & warm hearted. He was well prepared with all the ingredients ready. There was a major problem though, which I believe can be easily resolved. There was an American family with 3 young children in our group learning to make arrancini. The children had their hands in all the ingredients, moulding & mixing, totally takingt taking over .The chef talked about sitting down afterwards and eating the arrancini we made with a glass of wine. We were definitely not going to do that and we made our excuses & left early. I think everyone should make & eat their own- and there can easily be a way to identify each persons arrancini or at the very least all should wear gloves. And parents, you may be proud of your young children and think it's cute they are learning, But have consideration for other people in the group who have paid good money for the course & don't want 3 pairs of hands all over their food. It felt we were in a playgroup.Hygiene is very important. Let them watch & practise in your own home.

Our family (party of 7) wanted to find a cooking class for our budding chef, youngest grandchild who is in a culinary program at her school. We could not have chosen better! We made arrangements for the class and transportation from the Port of Messina as we were arriving on a cruise ship. Our ship's late arrival caused us to miss the local food market but Chef Giovanni had all our shopping completed for us on our arrival! I loved that Chef Giovanni was attentive and encouraging to my granddaughter who aspires to be a chef. We made bread, prepared fish of 3 types including breading for stuffing, Eggplant Parmesan, and a a type of macaroni noodles. So much fun! And it was cooked in their kitchen and served for us along with beverages and wine. And you get to keep your chef's aprons and receive a cooking class certificate! Just a marvelous experience that I highly recommend! And so much fun and yummy eating too!
Thanks Chef Giovanni, Stephano and Luca!

I am not really a cook but attended this class with travel companions. What a delightful surprise! After an interesting tour of the fresh market nearby where our chef, Giovanni, chose the ingredients, we went to work in his kitchen! Our small group did work! With Giovanni’s guidance, we rolled pasta, stuffed anchovies, salted fresh fish to be baked and made fresh tomato sauce. We also made a special dish, thinly sliced swordfish (fresh) rolled up with bread crumbs. Yum! We ate everything afterwards with great wine! I highly recommend!

DEar Rosmary,
thank you for your email. Your husband could drop you at restaurant and come back for lunch time if he want. He could be your host and could eat all food that you prepare in the class. Please don't esitate to ask me further information
