Beautiful peaceful place for a stroll

This natural reserve is the most beautiful we visited in the region. You must visit this place if you like nature.

We really enjoyed this boat trip on a warm day at the end of May. The river water was amazingly clear, the papyrus is fascinating, and while we saw no exceptional wildlife there were interesting ducks and lovely birdsong. There were just two of us plus a French couple - no commentary to speak of. An explanatory leaflet would be... More

We booked this trip via the sellers on the road bridge into Ortigia just half an hour before we went on it. We were the only family on the trip so there were just us 3 and 2 crew members on the boat. After sailing across the sea, we went down the tree-lined river and had the opportunity to get... More

We could find little information about this boat trip online before we left, so we were not sure how to find it etc. I also suspect there is more than one company offering trips, so that probably adds to the confusion! The company we found was on the SS115 (about 5km before Syracuse). We were driving north towards Syracuse and... More

We took the boat excursion on the Ciane river, which, although not reaching the river springs offers a good idea of the flora and fauna of this natural reserve. The departure of the boat is not scheduled, the trips occur whenever there are at least 3 passengers. The entrance is on the SS115 road, after leaving Syracuse on your left... More

A natural reserve were you can find real papyrus growing naturally... nevertheless... do not go to the Sorgenti del Ciane, as there is not much to see... go to the east part of the river as there is a really nice view. Or even better take a walk along the river (about 3 km !) and count 2-3 hours to... More

Mullet leaping from the water, croaking frogs, stone flies, butterflies, birds and beautiful trees. I wish I'd had time to go back and walk it thoroughly, because after walking from the coast road, along the beach and back, we foolishly took the boat. The boat trip would be magical if it was quiet and slow. As it was, we rushed... More

unbelieveable place. the only thing i can complain about is that the way is not so easy to follow because there are no signs.the silence, the pure nature and the whole surrounding makes it to one of the best places to be for me personally !!!!!
