This medieval castle sits on a very picturesque coastal area of the town. The architecture is remarkable for its time. I didn't go inside so I'm not sure if the ticket and interior tours are worth it or not.

Old castle without a lot of description anywhere. Most of the castle was closed to general public, but great view of Ortigia when at the furthest point. 4 EURO per person.. less for students. A bit of a hike if you aren't on the island...More

The Castle was langer and more interesting that expected especially considering the cheap price (only credit cards are accepted). There is an outdoor cafe at the castle.

We were looking forward to exploring a fort and learning about its history but we were deeply disappointed. It may be improved by providing more information about its history. Yes, the views are nice but you can get very nice views around town.

The plain simplicity gave this fortress a classic elegance. the arched ceilings in the main hall were impressive and the views seaward demonstrated the strategic importance

Wonderful views from the ramparts. And a fascinating history: early 13 century but owned by Nelson at one point! The gothic hall with the row of iron-banded columns is beautiful.

We didn't pay to go in, but its worth walking down to see (nice views of the sea) if you are visiting Ortigia. At the very tip of the island.

From the tickets desk, you really wonder why you have to pay to see this castle. Do not be fooled, there is far more here than an initial look shows. Firstly, it is a truly big place – much bigger than it appears from the...More

We were staying on the Island of Ortygia for a few days and Castello Maniace was a must-see for us. As an aside the walk to the Castle is also very nice. Castello Maniace is a castle (or fortress) which is located at the far...More
