These catacombs are amazing. They are huge and the tour is really good, highlighting key tombs and sections with frescoes. You can't wander round on your own or take pictures inside, but I think that's clearly as they're so big you could easily get lost...More

Easily accessed from the Greek Theater. The church was totally scaffolded and so there was nothing to see there. The catacombs have a great history. However, we came from Palermo where there were bodies still present and so it was a bit less than these...More

The size of catacombs was amazing. The tour was very informative as well as showing a vast area of the tombs. The guide spoke excellent English and was always ready to answer questions.

Tremendously well-informed English speaking guide. Historical information about how the catacombs were cleared of corpses to provide a bomb shelter during WWII was fascinating!

This is one of the many excellent facets of history in Syracuse. The visits are arranged in tours by a guide who gives you an explanation. Worth seeing in its own right, but excellent as part of a visit to the museum and Neapolis.

So much more than I imagined! The catacombs were large, intricate and cool (a great relief on a hot day!). The 30 minute tour in English was so worth it. Recommended!

Although most of the slabs have been removed, (marble has been valuable from ancient times) just wandering through the labyrinth of the catacombs is worth, but the highest reward are the old paleochristian frescoes. Visit is guided both in italian and english and very instructive

It was amazing the scope of the catacombs. The 30 minute tour is in English and Italian the tour guide was very informative and answered questions. There is a city visitors bus that circulates Siracusa with a stop within a block of the catacombs. Well...More
