Tutti conosciamo la frase "....i vili muoiono ogni giorno.." a me il giudice Falcone non mi evoca la morte, ma la vita, una vita vissuta dimostrando che la mafia non vive, la mafia muore, muore ogni giorno , si estingue , perché solo il buon esempio, vive per sempre.

Nel mio viaggio in Sicilia ,mi ero ripromesso di rendere omaggio alla memoria di Giovanni Falcone e di tutti i caduti di Capaci.Sono andato in via Notarbartolo,dove il giudice viveva,per aggiungere la mia testimonianza alle altre migliaia sotto il gigantesco albero che si trova dinnanzi al palazzo:un signore che sostava sotto la pianta mi ha spiegato che l'albero,credo un ficus,esisteva prima della casa e che il costruttore non volle abbatterlo...Le sue radici sollevano l'asfalto ed il cemento, sembra quasi una allegoria della giustizia che,lentamente ,ma spero inesorabilmente,si fa strada....Vicino è rimasta la garitta blindata dove gli uomini della scorta passavano le notti...A mio parere il tutto andrebbe tenuto meglio,sembra un po lasciato andare...

Questo albero, che ricorda Falcone ed il suo sacrificio, costituisce un monumento alla legalità ed alla voglia di riscatto dei siciliani contro la mafia. Merita una visita ed un omaggio.

Placed in front of the house where Judge Falcone resided, since 23 May 1992, the day in which Falcone was barbarically killed together with three escort agents in the Capaci massacre, the tree has become a symbol of the anti-mafia fight and a meeting place for demonstrators.
