Beguiling is a constant when swanning around the islands, the feeling timeless yet with lovely boutiques for distraction. The atmosphere a nice mix of sophistication and simplicity. Its certainly the plonk that is the key interest as well as the scenery and smells from the sea, woods and cute fishing villages. Always on the horizon the brooding invitation to treat... More

While traveling on the ferry to this island can be tricky (we received tickets that did not match our email travel confirmation--check and recheck information), once you're there you want to stay the rest of your life. The local restaurants, hotels, and residents are so lovely, the food spectacular, and the views from the steep cliffs and hills are astounding.

We went with family and a boat full of relations from lipari for a night out to listen to a local group, and have a meal in one of the local restaurants it was very large and very busy, but the food was great considering how many people came over initially just to see the group, it was night time... Stood on Lipari four nights and did daily boat excursions to 6 of the 7 aeolian islands. Hint: the boat excursions Aliente let you jump in the ocean two to three times per sailing...So worth it after spending time in the 100 degree sun and touring around the islands. Beautiful island to walk around or grab some lunch

What a beautiful, relaxing, Land of the Lotus Eaters kind of sanctuary. We spent three nights on Salina recently after a night on Lipari. We had visited the archeological museum on Lipari, which was a great introduction to the human and geological history of the Aeolian Islands. After arriving in Santa Marina, the main port of Salina, we had a... More

Salina offers stunning views of the sea, of the Sicilian and Calabrian coasts, of the other Eolian islands. Its sea is crystal clear and the many tours that can be organized there, may give you the chance to see dolphins, sperm whales, and other gems of the nature. Needless to say that its shape, modeled by the volcanic origin, is... More

We stayed on Salina for four days at the end of September and I would like to echo other reviews about how beautiful it is. We stayed at Hotel Mamma Santina which is in a wonderful situation, looking out over the sea to Stromboli. It's incredible to wake up and see that view each morning and watch the sunset in... More

We heard about. Marcello through a chance conversation with a local, which is a pity because we thought that this experience should not be left to chance. On Saturday evenings in the summer Marcello takes a party for a short walk along a winding coastal mountain path to a hut where he and his wife have a stone built barbecue. Whilst... More

The island of Salina is truly a beautiful place, a real hidden gem. I stayed here for a conference for a week, and it without doubt one of the best places I have had to go for a meeting, I felt very lucky, certainly beats Paris and Brussels. It reminded me of Portofino, but much more undeveloped. The people are... More

Our trip across the archipelago of islands landed us on Salina, formed by two volcanic cones joined by a high saddle. It is the richest in fresh water and thus the greatest of all the Aeolians. Much of the island is a reserve, with good hiking trails leading to woods and up on the top,the crater is a frothy pool of green... More
