Great day out with family of just the right amount of excitement and adrenalin. All kids of 8,11 and 13 lived it. Luca our guide was great and he especially made it a great experience for our son (youngest).

It was a pleasant walk down the track but the closer to the river we got the more overgrown it became. The rock formations are unusual but with next to no flow in the river it isn't that great.

Two hundred and something stairs to reach a really stunning river with incredible rock formations formed from one of three theories. Very icy water and beautiful pebbles.

We took the public steps down to the gorge which cost eu1.50 each. Not sure what we missed by not paying for the full ticket but we enjoyed what we did.

Body rafting is the best way to see the Alcantara River! We hiked upstream, up small rapids and small waterfalls. And you float down the river on your back down the rapids. Luca was the guide- funny, helpful, and safely got everyone up and back...More
