Definitely worth the visit. If you're not in a car, I would recommend getting a cab down to Hotel Calamosca as the nearest bus stop is 30 mins walk away. Start the trail opposite the Hotel Calamosca parking lot and head up. The trail is very poorly marked but essentially you are going up and veering left before following the trail to the right to overlook Poetto beach. My best tip would be to download the All Trails app and follow the route on there because it's very hard to follow - essentially it all leads up though and it's a popular trail, you will see others on route, so no need to worry, you can't really get lost. The top of the "green" trail will take you to a viewing point and a WWII fort. Took about 1hr to go up and 30mins to go down. Uneven under foot but generally quite easy - wear trainers :)

We found the entrance to the trail up to the Devils Saddle pretty easily (there is an info board almost directly opposite the carpark for the Calamosca Hotel and the trail starts there) we followed the green paint spots on the floor/rocks all the way to the top where we enjoyed the spectacular views of Poetto beach. Some of the green spots were a bit worn away, but we managed to mostly keep to the trail all the way to the top. The path was rocky and uneven underfoot as you would imagine so would recommend wearing decent shoes. Enjoy a celebratory lunch and a glass of wine at the Calamosca Restaurant when you get back down.

This is very easy trip from Cagliari, beatiful trek with gorgeous landscape and views.
The first of course you need to get to starting point which is Calamosca beach or exactly the road on the left towards the hotel. At the beach there is free car park or you can use public bus. From Cagliari downtown 25-30 minutes by bus Zeus_5/11 (or if not taking No 11 from San Bartolomeo (Parcheggi) then 15 minutes walk.

At the trail head there is info board with the basic info. Also some small info boards at point of interest available. It it easy to navigate the trail just fallow the path, occasionally there are red point on the trail.

At the summit there is a Hut some seating area to have a picnic while watching the fauna , mainly running lizards or beautiful butterflies.

On the whole the trips takes around 1,5 hours depends how many pictures you take or how much time you spend by enjoying spectacular views.

Even ideal for an late afternoon run
A nice promenade to the nearby sleeping lady mountain range. There is no official path to reach the peak, as the military base blocks the entire northern side. But following locals late afternoon, there are few wild path to lead you to the Sela del Diavolo, one of the ruins on this hill range. Searching for a path to reach to the peak, which seem to be the “official” hiking route, turned out to be non-existent. Ventured along the miliary base where I found a wild narrow path thru the forest to reach the top stone plateau. Fabulous view, 360 degrees … with some left over Roman Ruins and the famous nuraghe buildings, main type of ancient megalithic accommodation / towers dating back to the Nuragic Age between 1900 to 730 BC. Don’t miss to crowl thru some spikey cactuses to reach the chalk-cave, called Sella del Diavolo. There are approximately 7,000 nuraghes left in Sardinia today. Turning time back 4,000 years ago amongst such a scenery is truly a unique experience. The official path, flatter and easier-to-walk path, is leading to the Calamosca Beach. It was a Sunday, so the Disco tunes and party was on early afternoon till late night. Long queues, traffic jam and many happy party-lovers. Walking back to the Poetto beach took like 4 – 5 km … definitely a detour, but no other choice, unless driving by motorcycle or car.

Although it looks like you can walk from Calamosca to Poetto or vice versa, the military zone fence cuts across the path so it is only accessible from Calamosca.

Fantastic views over Poetto, the saline lakes and the city from the summit. Hut with seats at the summit. Add walk #2 for views of Calamosca and to the south west.

The walk is steep in places and a lot of walking on rocks rather than paths. From the sign opposite the htel, follow the green spots painted on the rocks. It says 1hr for walk #1 and 0.5hr for walk #2. I went faster than that.

Relatively easy climb as long as you are reasonably fit. Well marked paths following the green dots on the rocks which lead you all the way up. Views are spectacular and are worth the effort. Watch out for lizards, birds, wild flowers and butterflies as you walk. Stop off in the cafe overlooking Calamosca beach afterwards for a beer or coffee and check out the lighthouse. All in all a great way to spend the morning.

Worth it, not very difficult, but while visiting Cagliari, a good morning exercise with great views. Park at Calamosca. Then go to La paillote for lunch.

Walked up here from Poetto beach (even though it isn’t the official route). I used google maps to find where the starting point was. When you get to the sign where it says « military terrain, don’t enter » don’t give up just continue and you will find that there is a path that passes right next to the fence (without having to tresspass) and takes you up to the ruins. The path is quite easy with a few little steep bits. The view from the top is beautiful and a good spot to take pictures

We didn't find this the easiest activity to locate. The hill itself is prominent but the nearest bus stop we could find was approx a 30 minute walk to the starting point. Hopefully you find a better way to get there than us!
The walk itself is easy for two reasonably fit 30 somethings, steady incline up mostly stoney paths. The route is generally easy to stick to thanks to painted green rocks on the ground. Took roughly 1.5hrs to ascend, 1hr to descend at a steady pace with plenty of stops for photos. One oddity is that as you near the top you walk through swarms of dragonfly's! They leave you well alone and don't sting or bite obviously but could be a bit daunting if you're not a fan of flying insects. Probably just the time of year we visited (mid October).
From here you can walk to Poetto beach in 30mins for a well earned glass of wine.
