This is a bit hidden in all the buildings so we had to look for it. Although when you find it inside is more impressive. A marble alter and well presented it has a cool air of reverence and was a relaxing place to gather...More

This church has a rather simple façade. It is more beautiful on the inside with a carved marble altar and pulpit. It was built in the mid 1500’s in the Gothic style, but it has undergone several reconstructions. Most of what you see today dates...More

Impressive interior is very well presented. We also visited the histoc bell tower : entrance fee four euros.A narrow winding stone spiral staircase with 180 steps leads to the top of the tower with great views across sea and city.

The monumentally huge entrance in the neo-classical style is a complete nonsense that spoils your entrance to the church as once inside it is entirely different: rather sombre grey stone, huge columns and rather understated except for the altar front which is a riot of...More

The approach from the cobbled street is interesting - a classical portico with pillars. Inside it is much like many other Italian churches. There was CD of organ music playing although the Sunday morning service had only just finished. A praise band was packing away...More

Smaller than most, it was still a pleasant 20 minutes spent walking around the cathedral. Restoration work was taking place when we visited, so we couldn’t access certain areas. Also it is free to enter.

A bit hidden in the small streets of Alghero you may 'stumble' upon this impressive cathedral. starting with the neoclassical entrance, the amount of marber, the pulpit and much more. Make a time to visit it, look at the different styles of / within the...More

Well worth a little time to look around, though far less lavish than the catherdrals and churches of mainland Italy. The building itself is not the most attractive from outside but falls into place inside with great sweeping arches and subsidiary altars.
