.... but rather a shame that there was no detail about the memorial, or those commemorated. Otherwise, it's a rather Soviet style obelisk, intimidating in its size, overlooking the entrance to the natural harbor at Brindisi, but its difficult to comprehend why its actually there.

We drove our rental car 39km from Ostuni, desiring a waterfront view of Brindisi. Choosing this monument on Google Maps was the right choice as access from the freeway was quick and easy with little traffic. We were able to park near La Capannina Cafe...More

You can park right next to it. Monument itself is closed, but the chapel in the basement seems to be open in the mornings and is definitely worth a visit. Views from alongside monument across the harbour too.
