Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in a beautiful apartment called Cattedralflats in the centre of the old city. Beautiful old churches , little pedestrian narrow streets with arches and quaint cafe/ bars surrounded us.. St Nicholas basilica was amazing. Shopping in the Central Bari just outside the old city was close and enjoyable. Great fashion at good prices. We found the food from sandwiches to seafood to pasta absolutely delicious. Walking distance to the public beach was 20 minutes from tourist centre. The sea was shallow and a bit dirty...hence I give Bari 4 stars not 5. There was a private beach called
" Lido de San Fransesco" with sun loungers and umbrellas, about 15 mins public bus away on the other side of the big Port.... it took us 1 hour to walk the 3.7km in the heat to reach this lido. . 20 euro for loungers and 1 umbrella. As it was late September and mid week we were lucky to have the place almost to ourselves. The coffee shop there sold tasty sandwiches and beer. The sea water was shallow even past first bouy ,so safe for k8ds and non swimmers. ..

ust 15-20 minutes’ walk from the old town going down the promenade you will get to PO beach. To be honest nothing to write home about. Soft sand but full of rubbish, sea water clear but unfortunately heavily polluted by sea weed. No restaurant or bar open in October, however the facility such as clean toilets or showers available and open. But to relax and sunbath is OK if you do not want to get to beach outside Bari or just walk further around the coast to smell the sea and the far away places to travel to. Around the beach there is nice trail for good walk.

Great beach local to Bari. We took the train from Bari centrale to the Bari Parco Sud station. Then beach is just in front of the station- about 5 min walk. Train is €1.2 per person. Nice sandy beach with drinks, outdoor showers, playground, grassy shady picnic areas and lifeguards. At the end of July it was busy but not overly so. It was very windy when we arrived and swimming was forbidden but the wind eased and then we were allowed to swim.

Ok, this is a sandy beach next to the city center. This is the only advantage. The quality of water is poor, I would not dare to swim there. You cannot rent a bed, it is a community beach so always very crowded. Only one bar at the beach, but in proximity some restaurants to eat a lunch.

We were staying in the Bari Old Town so this was the closest beach. Once we figured out how the buses worked i.e. go to a tabacerria and buy either 2.5 Euro day passes or 1 Euro single tickets we took the bus about 8 stops. Morning or afternoon we were never more than 20 metres from the water. There's nowhere to hire any beach stuff so bring what you need. There is no ice-cream/cafe/bar on the beach itself but on the opposite side of the road is a place that sells all that

Very small beach, full of people with almost no space to put the towel and a very VERY dirty beach, both the sand full of dirt and water, which was very murky.
There are more pigeons than in Milan's Duomo Square, which fly over you almost brushing all the time.
If I could avoid this beach, I would!!

The beach is sandy and very clean, it has free very nice toilettes and showers and there is also trees if you wish to lay in the shade. There are multiple coast guards so it is safe as well. The water is shallow but there is also deeper parts for swimming and snorkeling. The water is very clean and warm, even in the end of June and at night as well. During the week there is not much people, only on weekends, but even with all the crowd, the water is still nice. This is the best beach we have ever visited, we truly had the best time.

Crowded but very wide beach, sandy and with spaces in the shade. We had no difficulty finding a seat even arriving at 11 in the morning. Clear water, sea that gets dirty in the afternoon. Possibility to leave backpacks safely in a designated location. About 30 minutes walk from Bari Centrale station.

Very pleasant beach, where you can leave your bags and/or valuables free of charge at reception. Various activities, music, sport... Possibility of drinking and eating. From the beach you can cross to the sea wall while still having footing. The water is transparent. We had a wonderful morning.

Beach full of people, almost no room to put a towel. Many families with children and even the dog. However, it is very central in Bari and the water is at 26 to 28 degrees. Very cheap public transport all the time. Or do the marginal on foot, with a magnificent view.
