This Roman arch was built in the second half of the first century A.D., during the Flavian period and stood at the beginning of the road into the ancient Roman city. Apparently, it was demolished and has been rebuilt using some of the original stones....More

The fascinating ruts in the paving beneath the arch were worn by the passage of Roman chariots long ago. All reminiscent of wagon ruts on the Oregon Trail. The arch is beautiful too.

Simple arch near Castle. You can walk right up to it. A little out of place next to Medieval architecture. Restaurant opposite is great!

When I saw this white Veronese marble arch next to Castelvecchio, it seemed out of place to me, especially with the Adige river at its rear. I thought this Roman arch must have been moved here and wondered why. Later, I learned a bit of...More
