This was my least favourite out of the 4 main churches and that's because it is so dark in there and there is quite a lot of restoration work going on. It still is amazing and the architecture is really something.

Two churches here - one lower church with a fascinating history (proximity to the river meant flooding was an ongoing risk) and an upper church which sadly is half visible to the visitor, half under scaffold (as is every church we visited in Verona) Two...More

A beautiful, imposing church - well wroth visiting even though the upper floor was completely filled with scaffolding and work was on-going - unfortunate as many details of the structure were masked to the visitor. Be sure to take some time to see the Romanesque...More

This is a very nice church, close to the river of Adige. Totally worth a visit, especially to be pointed out, is the two floor architecture. Currently the upper floor is being renovated.

For those who appreciate Franciscan Church architecture, San Fermo is unmissable as it displays the Order's way of building temples.

Chiesa Di San Fermo is an 11th century church with a lower Romanesque church and a higher Gothic church. The upper church has an unforgettable wooden ribbed ceiling and 14th and 15th century frescos.

This site has had a church on it for nearly 1800 years. It is fascinating to peel back the layers and see how it has developed. There is now a wonderful mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture plus many interesting details inside. Definitely worth a...More

To not visit this church while in Verona means you have wasted your time. It is so special, the lower church will move you, a super special place to anyone, and I am not religious, it is that good.

Both the exterior and interior of the church of San Fermo are presently under renovation so the scaffolds obstruct the full view of the nave. Yet some individual frescoes are in good condition and retain their bright colors despite being originally executed in the 14th...More
