The history and intrigue of this place is amazing. You need a good guide to tell you the stories. Fortunately, we had an excellent one, Christina.

It's worth seeing if you're in Verona. Again, it sits above street level so you can't get right up to it but it certainly is a work of art.

There are some information boards, some in English, that give details about the family and tombs. Great examples of Gothic funerary art. The church and cemetery stand just northeast of Piazza dei Signori in the Old Town a short distance from Dante's statue.

1 Euro, a small price to pay to see these old and interesting tombs of the Scaligeri family. Recommended.

At every corner in the old centre of the city you see great monuments turning up at every corner , like this great burial monument near the old church

The folks buried in this setting were apparently extremely powerful and seemingly feared as a result. Their burial area is dark and fearsome but certainly worth a peek. All the bars around the area make it hard to see.
