This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

This island seemed to have been tacked on to the trip to make the trip a decent length. Cant think why else it was part of the itinerary. Dont bother going

An island with only 12 people, yet 5 restaurants. Quiet island with a wonderful church that you should accompany with the audio provided.

Away from the hustle and bustle lies the quiet island of Torcello. We visited this as a last stop while on an island hopping tour of Murano, Burano and Torcello. One of the quietest and the quaintest places ever visited. The island is accessible via a peaceful walk alongside a cute little canal, which is lined up with picturesque small... More

We travelled by vaporetto to Torcello. Here you can discover the beginnings of Venice. The two churches are very interesting. Nice restaurant. Very peaceful.

Did this island as part of a three island tour and apart from the two churches one you have to pay for 5 euros and no photography in either there is nothing else here.

We visited on Easter Monday so the crowds were terrible! However, the island is gorgeous and absolutely worth the visit - especially if the weather is nice. We literally could not find a place to eat however due to the crowds so perhaps plan accordingly and either bring a picnic or plan to eat before or after your visit. About... More

This was not my first time in la Serrenissima so i didn't need to stand in the queues to overdose on adorations and assupmptions and other things in guilded frames. I wanted to see Murano and then go beyond to Torcello where i had heard there was a naturereserve. The latter was a bit of a disappointment but the basilica... More

We took the trip to Torcello via the islands Murano & Burano. We were unsure whether or not to go as it seems like a long way, but via the other islands we were very pleased we'd bothered. They're all very different/unique, but well worth seeing.

As much as I love this small island, I have say Torcello is not for everyone. It is somewhat out of the way and lack of conventional tourist amenities. Having said that, Torcello is a surprise and a paradise if you are into history, architecture, and the nature. The island may have preserved what Venice should have looked like from... More
