This small island is a bit off the usual Venetian path, but it’s worth seeing. Its Santa Maria Assunta church houses impressive mosaics, its bell tower offers great surrounding views—and it’s home to Locanda Cipriani, a well-regarded restaurant and hotel that played host to writing legend Ernest Hemingway .

Visited Torcello to go to locanda Cipriana. The island is a flower filled delight full of birdsong and very relaxed. The church is extraordinary.

the trip from Venice to Torcello via Murano and Burano must be on any visitor to Venice's wish list. The church either before or after lunch at the Locanda Cipriani is a gem.

Not much to see but a good place to end a three-island excursion along with Murano and Burano - plus the restaurant had delicious fish and risotto!

We visited here in May 2017. We were lucky that the weather was great, so took advantage of a guided tour of the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. Torcello was the last of the three we visited. It's a quiet little drop of greenery...More
