Refused to show Scotland rugby match on one screen (there are 4 in pub) even though pub was by no means full as Ireland game was on at same time. Changed the channel when two of his friends requested that the channel on that one screen was changed. Was an arrogant and aggressive patron which was disappointing given the amazing... More

Dear Custumer, we kindly apologize if you found our manager rude and agressive, maybe the sound of his voice was to laud because of the incredible amount of people in the pub at that moment. We see your point, we knew that the match was important to you infact we tried our best to make it: but as we told... More

Good atmosphere, good beer, and very pleasant staff. We spend there two nights in the roll as it was so close to our hotel and best in the area.

Full of Brits and beer. Good selection of taps and decent prices (especially for Venice). Our mainstay pub when we visit the city. Cheers!

Several screens showing different football games including EPL. Reasonable selection of drinks at above average prices. Sandwich / hotdog snacks. Nothing special, but if you are desperate for football this place will deliver.

Friendly and not a bad Guinness. Soundtrack distinctly English. An easy fix though and doesn't detract from the atmosphere.

Stumbled upon this place on our late walk back to hotel. Pub was very quiet and getting ready to close but staff was very friendly and we made friends! So much so that we had to come back to say good byes on the next day before leaving Venice! Highly recommended if you would like a drink whilst chatting with... More

I am a big fan of the Geelong Cats (Australian Rules Football team) who were playing out arch nemesis, the Hawthorn Hawks in a Qualifying Final. We had half a day free in Venice and thought it would be cool to watch the game here. I contacted a few pubs in town to see if they screened AFL games.. most... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
