Take the trip across the Grand Canal to visit The Church of San Giorgio Maggiore. We enjoy visiting and exploring old churches and cathedrals when traveling in Europe, and this one was no exception. It is ornate and beautiful. The highlight of the visit was...More

Fabulous island, fabulous church, fabulous view of the rest of Venice. Take the vaporetto for a scheduled efficient way to travel to the island.

We waited too much just to get on the lift on the campanile and enjoy the view. Too narrow on the top, with a great view indeed but overestimated.

When I visited during a week day afternoon in early December, there weren't many other tourists. There was no one actually in the church when I visited, but there were a few others (not many though) on the bell tower. The architecture of the church...More

I would definately recomment visiting the bell tower, the views are amazing! Just take the vaporetto from San marco, it is just one stop away. There is a lift to go up the tower.

You can visit a cathedral, with an interesting renaissance style . The campanile (bell tower),there is now also a lift. There is a fine view across Venice from the top.

Go on a vaperetto tour and be sure to stop here. The church itself looks a little bland from the outside but inside it is phenomenal and the added art exhibiton was a bonus. Pay to go up in the lift to top of the...More

You gotta take the vaporetto across the Venice Lagoon to visit this church designed by Palladio. In the back left corner is the lift to the top of the campanile from which you get astonishing views of Venice. Be sure you also get a look...More
