It's about wine! It's not Chianti or California, it's time to discover the distinctive wines of the 'Tre Venezie' region that Venetians have been pouring for centuries. Our enthusiastic sommeliers will introduce you to the vast selection of the wines you'll see scribbled on the chalk boards throughout the city—those we know you'll be too timid to try.

Informative, practical, and entertaining, the Venetian Vine's Lessons of the Vine goes far beyond your everyday wine tasting. Without a trace of uppity, your wine expert will focus on what makes up this regional wine map, focusing on native varieties chosen specifically for their quality and diversity. You'll also sample each with some extraordinary cicchetti...you tell us what pairs best!

Drink Different. Drink from the Venetian Vine.

We got the best detailed presentation of Venetian wine. Nico spent a great deal of time explaining all the specifics of the different Venetian wines, and answered all kind of questions related to wine, with a delicious food pairing. Don't leave Venice without going there. Also the restaurant was a great place to drink wine and the staff was very... More

We were really looking forward to our evening of tasting local wines from the Veneto and surrounding areas. We were not disappointed by our session with Nan who was both informative and fun. We know something about wine however we were new to wines from the area ( having never been to Venice before) so our knowledge did not extend... More

This was a great experience! We are not really big wine connoisseurs but thought it would be fun to learn something about wine (and taste some!) We were in a small group of 6 and had two experts (Nico and Nan) who were excellent. They told us loads about the wines we were drinking and what information to recognise on... More

What fun we had !!! It is highly recommended experience for any wine lover who wants to spend a few hours of learning and a taste of a wide range of excellent wines. We had a great evening tasting local Veneto wines - 3 reds and 3 whites, and a selection of cicceto to go with them. The food was lovely and the wines interesting and varied. Nan was very friendly and knowledgable and gave us lots of tips for wine tasting and information about Italian wines. The bar where the tasting was... More

Nico and Nan really know their wines. We tasted three whites and three reds paired with delicious cicchetti (like Italian tapas) while we learned about the origins of the wine, grapes and the region. And the setting (Estro) was as delightful as our hostesses. Don't miss this!

What a wonderful evening we had with Nan & Nicco learning about all the wines of the region and many Italian wines. This wine tasting was SUPERB! The selections and food were excellently prepared and chosen and I learned so much. Nan and Nicco were funny, interesting and enjoyable! We will definitely make this a "must-do" when we are in... Nan is a thoughtful, knowledgeable and excellent host/teacher. I learned a lot about the wonderful Italian wines. The tasting was held at the Estro wine bar, in a charming section of Venice - Dorsoduro, worth visiting on its own. We tried three whites, and then three reds. Each was tasted separately, then paired with a variety of appetizers so we... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
