Neighbourhood: Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

The place is absolutely nothing special and very confusional. the staff are very rude and i didn't find anything interesting. I recommend to go elsewhere and not waste time in this place.

Boring and dirty. I suggest to find better places. Do not trust good reviews, its not a library, its a storage of garbage.

It is a nice place to visit while in venice. Books are nothing special and the quality of them is not the best, but it is pretty to see. Unfortanetly we were not able to see the cats, but looking forward to seeing them next time.

Amazing little bookstore absolutely FILLED with books. It was pretty crowded for a Friday evening when we went but we still got to see the store, the cute photo op in the back of the book stairs, and of course the cats! A great stop while you're strolling around Venice.

Salvaged books create shelving, tables and a stairway in the back garden. Excellent selection of prints and books pertaining to Venice for souvenirs or gifts.

The most unique bookshop / library you.. definitely worth a visit, if not to purchase books, then simply to take some memorable photographs

I really don't know why this bookstore is so overcrowded! Its because of the books? I don't think so. I think it's because of the cats and the book stairs.

This quaint bookstore is in almost every visitors guide and therefore completely crowded. That’s really a pity because they really have nice stuff fir reasonable prices. The staff does their utmost to accommodate as many people as possible but maybe it’s in their interest if they start working with a waiting line and don’t let too many people in at once.

One of the most gorgeous bookstores I’ve ever seen. Definitely a must see if you are in Venice. You can even get to go on a gondola and take a photo of the beautiful canals.

really pretty, lots of old books. quite crowded, but has many cute cats around. there isnt an endless selection of english books, and i dont think you would go there to find a specific book, rather to see what you find.
