I also visited the sacristy and by doing so you could receive a discounted ticket for the Seminary art exhibit next door. That was very well worth it because both venues are small, and there was almost no one else in them. The art is...More
This iconic building is situated just across theGrandCanal from St Marks square. I am sure every visitor has photographed it! You can take a water taxi or just stroll across the academia bridge. Watch out for the smartly dressed beggar who tries to make you...More
Its hard not to get a culture overload with all of the beautiful architecture in Venice but its definitely worth the short Vaperetto trip across the Canal from St Marks to see this beautiful church.
Best from outside and famous landmark. Was right next to our accommodation. Inside not as amazing as we expected. All the glory is on the outside of building.

Got to the church in the afternoon by chance and thoughourly enjoyed the organ concert that is given daily. It was heavenly!
I think this is my favorite exterior of all the churches/basilicas in Venice...and often a string quartet will be playing Vivaldi one the pavement near the water in the fine weather. Just sit on the steps and take it all in!
This was a spectacular building right by the canal and well worth a visit to look up at the huge dome. Organ music playing when we were there which was very moving.
