About
A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, the building and its sculptural decoration date from various periods. The interior, with works by artists such as Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, A.Vittoria and Tiepolo, includes vast council chambers, superbly decorated residential apartments, and austere prison cells. Along the facades of the Palace run loggias that overlook St. Mark’s Square and the lagoon. The combined entrance ticket to the St. Mark’s Square Museums grants access to the Doge’s Palace, Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale and Monumental Rooms of Biblioteca Marciana.

Neighbourhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

I've been to this a few times during past visits, and like it fine. However, the powers that be have put a crazy woman at the door who wanted me to show a passport for my 12 year-old daughter! Maybe it was because she was Asian and I am white, or maybe she just hated Americans. So we waited half an hour in line and this weird woman in uniform asked, out of blue, to see my daughter's passport. I had a copy on my iPhone but that wasn't good enough. This is the first time during some 40 years of travel anyone in the interior of Italy ever asked me or my party to see an actual passport, We're not talking about a uniformed officer but a very unpleasant older lady who just wanted to exert her power. Anyhow, Venice is empty of tourists and needs them badly, but with people like this being hired to man the entrances, the folks at the Doges palace are not doing themselves any favors. I could return with a passport but I think I'll just give it a miss as there are so many other great things to see in Venice. Too bad!

Definitely worth a visit. The interior was incredible. We bought the ticket that includes correr and some other buildings that we didn’t actually enjoy so check out if you are interested in all these.

A must if you are going to Venice - one of the highlights of our visit - the scale alone has to be seen to be believed.. not cheap tho..

I was very disappointed and would not recommend! Took a lot of time to see nothing! No respect for an older person who needed to sit for a few minutes!

What could have been a fun experience was soured. I just want to caution you when it comes to buying tickets online for the Secret Itineraries tour, make sure that there is no scheduling conflict. I booked the tickets forgetting that was the same morning that we were arriving in Venice. My honest mistake, So, we couldn't make it in time for our tour. I sent an email to the Museum but was reminded that the ticketing company's policy clearly states that there are no refunds and exchanges. We still booked for the next day and so, we had to pay twice. Disputed it with my credit card company, Capitalone, and they said that they have to follow the merchant's policy. So, there is no exception, no matter what.

I was in Venice a couple of times before but never visted the palca; Since we had to entertain business contacts we booked a tour of the palace; And it's simply stunning. You get to see all the diiferent room and can even walk the bridge of sighs which is a unique experience. Don't hesitate and book the tour

November was a perfect time to visit as there were no crowds - we did not prebook & did not have to queue at 3:30pm; we had to show the equivalent of the "Green Pass" on entry. The rooms were stunning - the headset narration was helpful but I would have enjoyed the visit just as much without hiring.

The gothic architecture, the staircases, the ornamentation on the walls and the ceilings - it's unbelievable! This is a must-see especially if you can do it as a combo with the basilica like we did. The bridge of sighs is particularly cool to see on this tour.

If you have made it to Venice, your visit is not complete without a visit to the decadent Doge's Palace. Tons of history, grand rooms and art. Going with a guide is best as there is so much interesting history.
