It's the heart of Venezia. A pure beauty. Magnificient ! Take a public boat on the north and go to the south, open your eyes or take photos all around the ballade. A must !

The bridge view was amazing. It gets very crowded in the afternoon. Best to go before 11am where it is less crowded. There is also many restaurant along the canal bank.

Good to see how the traffic self manage themselves. Too busy to take a gondola ride here.....go to the inner canals..more peaceful. Viewed from the Rialto bridge at sunset is lovely

We brought a 75 minute €7.50 ticket from the water ferries/bus and decided to ride up along the main thoroughfare. It was busy and full of action. Gondolas, water taxis, water ferries/bus, larger boats etc all using the water ways and it's a great sight...More

Rode the vaparetto down the grand canal twice on our visit. Try to get a seat in the back of the boat if you can, for a better view of all of the fascinating buildings, bridges and boat traffic on the canal,

The basic cost is 7.50 one way and 10.00 round trip (Euros). 1/2/3/6 day passes cost 20/30/40/60 Euros. As for size, my best wild guess is that each one can hold about 30 people. But that's only a guess.
