We stumbled out of the train station and into the sunshine. The light was sparkling off the water and a light breeze enlivened our spirits. Watching the boats move on the water and looking at all the buildings lining the canal could easily be the activity of an entire day. It is quite simple to walk most of the canal... More

On a sunny day the glistening and reflections makes Venice a magical place to visit. The public water buses are up and down all day and night so can be busy. Great to sit and watch the world go by.

Lovely views and some lovely walks but where are all the seats? They are few and far between so if you want to sit and watch the comings and goings on the canal you have to be paying for it in a cafe.

Take a taxi from the rail station to the St Mark's square. On the boat try to get outdoor seats. Take photos and videos on the boat. On this trip you'll see most of the canal, but don't stop there if you have more time to spare. Take other taxi trips in order to cover more of the islands. You... More

We traveled along the Grand Canal on route 1 from S.Marcuola all the way to the Accademia stop and it was a great way to take in the sights and feel of Venice.

What a wonderful sight and a great view from the riverboat bus service. You really get to see the city at work and the importance of the waterways.

Just lovely for meandering around and soaking up the atmosphere- we took the taxis, walked and the gondoliers to experience as much as we could.

Be sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds; good after the sun sets. Avoid eating/drinking in this area as the prices are hefty!
