Would recommend visiting in December as it wasn’t busy and you could appreciate the sites. Amazing architecture, definitely worth the trip

This basilica was just amazing! You have to see the inside tho! It even offers a miniature version for blind people so they can legitimatly feel the entire basilica.

Yes I know this is a Basilica but for those familiar with English cathedrals this building is spectacular. A shrine to St Anthony with relics (teeth, tongue and other macabre bits) this is quite unique.

The Chiesa del Santo, as locals call it, is an impressive monument: it is a very large church, with the typical basilica design, and impressively decorated on the inside, with frescoes, oil paintings, mosaics , stone carvings and a collection of relics supposedly going back...More

There are many beautiful works of art within this church. But not sure what the big deal in not being allowed to take a photo without a flash. They come running up to stop you. Oh well, it's a nice church.

It's amazing, but the big reason to go here is for the relics. They're in a side-chapel, and you have to get in a separate line to see them.

You can visit any time. During Mass, the seats in front of the main altar are cordoned off and reserved for Mass goers only. However, there's plenty to see around the sides of the basilica and in the cloisters. As soon as... More
