An infinite snowy area that begins at 1,524 metres, in Valtournenche, embraces Breuil-Cervinia, rises up to 3,480 metres of Plateau Rosà, touches the 4,000 m peak of Piccolo Cervino, climbes up to 4,478 m to the top of the Cervino. An area where the infinite snow continues on the Swiss side to Zermatt. An area where the snow is the setting of sport, holidays and fun. The tourism vocation of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche had it’s beginning more than two hundred years ago. Excursionists and academics were the pioneers of a tourism that united sport, scientific study and intellectual exchange. In 1936, a new Breuil-Cervinia was created. The construction of the first cable car was a cutting-edge work of engineering excellence. The Hotel Gran Baita situated at the foot of the slopes, with the cable car departure station annexed to it, anticipates by over half a century the concept of an integral complex for skiing. Breuil-Cervinia became the Queen of the snow. From sport to cinema, politics and commerce, those who count meet here. Innovation, in Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, is the key word. New ways to practice sport, new ways to enjoy a holiday, new services to allow more free time. The technology is not limited to the rapid lift systems, but also to the territorial fibre optic network that allows the information to be transmitted in real time. Time and space dimensions have changed thanks to the e-skipass, to the keycard and to the hotel reservation system via the internet. 350 thousands web navigators every month visiting the site to check out the webcams, weather reports, lift status and snow conditions. In Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, collaboration between the operators in the area guarantees guests quality and state of the art solutions.

First day total closure due to high winds - should have bought appropriate insurance! Lifties had disappeared before 11am, however weather improved by lunchtime, but still nothing on. Two other days Zematt linked closed, and when eventually opened, still very windy and bitterly cold. Headed over to Valtourneche, but chose wrong day with poor vis, 12-16" of wind blown snow... We loved this resort. We were a group of mixed skiers of 12 and every one of us would love to return. It's stunning, with beautifully maintained pistes, an excellent infrastructure and even in the busiest week of the year, it feels luxuriously uncrowded. Not for the big mogul-lovers but super restaurants both here and in Zermatt, and enough people... More

We visited for 4 days on a 3 week ski adventure holiday in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. The Snow was great, the ski runs perfect for couples, the on piste skiing is terrific. I was very impressed with this area. The views are the best anywhere in the alps, the on mountain food reasonably priced and excellent. We... More

Skied at Cervinia for the first time during our half term break. It was remarkably quiet for what we expected to be a busy time. Fabulous weather and great snow conditions. Extensive skiing area with lots of lovely wide red runs and a great choice for intermediate skiers.

Together with Zermatt I understand it is the highest ski area in Europe. From Klein Matterhorn 3883 meter above sea level, you can ski all the way down to Cervinia at 2050 m or Zermatt at 1650 m or Valtournenche at 1500 m. Lots of rather easy blue and red slopes. Not much of black slopes. Lots of nice restaurants,... More

We had a great day in Cervinia area. It's a little more expensive compared ti other places but you must visit it once, at least. Skiing is pretty easy and you are not annoied by long queus.

The slopes are good and there are a lot of good restaurants in the area. You have to leave your stress at home since the Italians aren't the people who rush things for your convenience. The lifts almost always opened 15-30 minutes later than scheduled. After a couple of days however you understand it's part of the charm :) there... More

the first day was a disappointment with the lifts closed for high winds, but fantastic skiing the rest of the week, in a huge area.
