We did not stay here but it seems a popular choice for local weddings. The gardens of the Monastero are incredible. The gardens are along the edge of the lake. You can also see them from the road above as you walk from Varenna into Fiumelatte.

It's a charming villa, and the gardens are amazing, but some parts are very degraded. There is a boat house and several features in a poor state of disrepair. The gardens are well looked after and the café with the tables dotted under the shadows of gorgeous trees make for a great memorable visit nonetheless.

The gardens are just stunning and well worth the walk all the way to the end. The house was only partially open on the day we visited, but it's still worth a look - what a place to have lived!

These gardens were absolutely lovely--terraced on the hillside in Varenna. We did not visit the mansion, but the terrace with the graceful pillars where you start your walk was like something out of a Mayfield Parrish painting. Walking along the beautiful Italian gardens with a view of the majestic lake and mountains was a special memory of my time in... More

After a long day boat hopping from several different towns and villages on Como we gave the final hour and a half to the gardens. Ideal setting and beautifully maintained, a couple of kilometres walk was ideal for both of us.

We only visited the gardens but they were beautiful with amazing views of the lake. We found it to be good value as you could spend quite a bit of time here, just relaxing and taking in the view.

I absolutely loved walking through the garden. It costs about $5 euros and is well worth it. A great place to take some nice photos.

We have been here, during our trip discovering the fantastic Como lake...the botanic garden that faces the lake and bring the visitors from the entrance till the historical villa. The great climate condition of the lake is perfect for the cultivations of local and indigenous plants coming from all over the world. The architecture of the paths and green elements... More

Nice garden and cool villa with English info sheets in each room. Worth the €8 admission but not much more.
