This church is a bit of a walk from the historic center of Como but worth it. Its over 1500 years old. Its in a Romanesque style but somewhat distinctive from the romanesque churches I had seen in Milan. There are well preserved frescoes inside.

We have visited here at night so couldn't enter inside. However, lighting of the Basilica was charming! We had limited time, so we didn't try to re-visit, but worth the walk.

The reviews I read sparked my interest but really this basilica is of only average interest- five or ten minutes wandering around it and we were heading off.

Wonderful Basilica, very peaceful with guide books in English giving a potted history. Seems to have been recently restored and was worth the 20 minute walk from the Duomo.

Don't miss to visit the cloister on the left of the church: you pass a little wooden door and you are there. Right now, it hosts the school of law of Insubria University and the access is free.

The Basilica di Sant'Abbonlio is situated away from the other tourist attractions but is well taking the time and making an effort to visit. Indeed , we were the only visitors at the time, unlike Como Duome where there were many tour groups.. The 14th century frescoes are well worth seeing. Make that extra effort to visit!

This is an example of one of the older Romanesque churches and is worth a look for that reason. My tip is to check out the university while you're there, too - the courtyard is fantastic!

this is quite a find and full of rich history. It's in the business district, and no where close to the other tourist locations, but its worth the time if you love history, the 14th century frescoes, the remains of the previous priests and the basic decor carries you back in time. Love it.

Even though i stayed in como for 5 months i went to this church only in the last week. This church even though a bit far from the lake is well worth a visit . The atmosphere inside is amazing. I was one of the only 3 people inside the church at that time though and i can imagine the... More

This church was built in Romanesque style around 1000 years ago. It is very unique as the interior has beautiful frescoes. Even though it is a 15-20 minute walk from Como City Center, it is worth a visit.
