An amazing resort town in a sunny bay. Catches all the amazing views of the coastline. Great shops, restaurants and activities including walking and swimming in the sea. The walk to Portofino is a must.

We visited as we stayed in Portofino. Probably a more authentic Italian town. However, we arrived at about 5 pm and my wife and I tried to get lunch on the long waterfront which was packed with a captive audience. No cafe could offer anything...More

A picturesque beach side town with lovely restaurants and bars, piazzas and old world hotels. Parking is difficult , and the beaches are packed but everyone seems pretty relaxed about this . Tidy affluent town with beautiful attended water front

We knew absolutely nothing about SML when we booked a hotel here, we just wanted to pick a place as close as possible to Portofino. But in the end it proved that you have more things to do and see in SML than in Portofino....More

This is our second time in Santa Margarita from Australia and it hasn't dampened our enthusiasm for this lovely beach town. There are lots of fabulous restaurants and bars along the promenade and in the old town. What I like about it most is that...More

There are still many small local grocery shops, clothing shops, shoe shops where people take the time to talk to their customers. All restaurants and food places we have visited have served excellent fresh quality food. The beaches are clean and water beautiful to swim...More

Beautiful and relaxed. Less crowded than Portofino. Stayed at the traditional Imperiale Palace hotel and loved the views and the service.

We stayed here with our two grown daughters for three nights and had a wonderful time. We really liked this town. It was not as touristy as others and right on a picturesque part of the Mediterranean. The town was big enough to walk around...More

We stayed for 4 weeks and this town has it all, beaches, bars cafes and great restaurants. It is close to Portofino and many of the other coastal towns for day trips.

Stayed four nights while on a two-week guided tour. Seaside enjoyment. Relaxing. Great for going on walks. Total escape from monuments and museums. Good jumping off point to visit Portofino and Cinque Terre. Would definitely go back.

We had a car and found that very easy but spoke to people who used the train and they loved it? If you have the time then suggest train as you get to see more and no worries of parking?!

We went on honeymoon it's very traditional and quieter which is why we loved it. I would chose more city or coastal
