Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth the walk up the hill and steps. Spectacular views of the coast and a very nice church in a great setting. When leaving the church you can walk up to the Castel or you can start your walk back to the city and take a small detour down the stairs to your right to end up in the park/garden.

Nice viewing point especially since the Castello was closed for a private event when we were there. Go a little to the right in direction of the cemetary for the best views. When we were there, they were filming an old movie in front of the church. Interesting situation to observe how the director was working with the actors.

Being a somewhat frail octogenarian, I had something of a problem climbing up, but the resulting view was worth the effort. The cemetery does not show up well in this picture. It was absolutely covered with flowers - orchids and cyclamen - one of the prettiest sights I have ever seen - and looking our over the Mediterranean. I would love to have a picture!

The church looks down on Portofino harbour on one side and across the mediterranean on the other . The building itself is very simple, with a cemetery built into the rocks behind it. There are some steep steps up from harbour or a slightly more gentle path up from behind the square.

If you go up to the church follow the path up further and visit the castle (Castello Brown). There is a small fee to get in but it gives the best views of Portofino. Walk through the house, which is excellent and out to the courtyard gardens.

The Church of San Giorgio is a lovely yellow Church that dates back to the 12th century. The Church was completely destroyed during WWII and was rebuilt in the original style in 1950.

The views of Portofino from the Church are spectular - it's a great place for photos. The mosaic courtyard is amazing.

If you are in Portofino you can’t miss Church of San Giorgio.

It is visible from almost everywhere and definite worth the uphill walk or climbing the steps near the boat dock (see picture) as in addition to enjoying the church especially from the outside, you will also have panoramic visual delights etched on your mind that will transport you to Portofino whenever whenever you remember the views.

Definitely worth seeing.

Portofino is such a stunning place 😄
It is my favourite spot as well as Santorini in Greece.
You don’t get boats, crystal clear water, beautiful restaurants and places to have a drink and views like that very often, anywhere in the world.
When you climb to the top you take in the views as you go up. You have to stop and take photos to make sure you don’t miss anything at all.
We took the water taxi boat to get into portofino and it was definitely the best way to arrive to take in the whole atmosphere and ambience of portofino.
The boat stops right in the heart of portofino 😄
I think it’s a must to put on your holiday to do list 😄

The San Giorgio church actually looks more like a chapel and is located on top of a hill Sout-East of Portofino.
It seems that the chuch dates back to the 12th century, but it was reconstructed in the middle of the past century after being destroyed during WW II.
The interior is quite simple.
It's a short climb to reach the top of the hill (take approx. 10 minutes to get up).
In my opinion, not the church is the main attraction over there, but the views are.
At the one side, the rough Mediterranean coast, at the other side an overwhelming view over Portofino.

In this very exclusive (about 500 residents)and beautiful town, this church, high on a hill overlooking the city, harbor and Mediterranean Sea is quite spectacular and very close to the San Martin Church. It is a heck of a walk up here but well worth the journey

The colors of Portofino are so enchanting and the yellow of this church is unreal! The climb up is easy, beautiful views all around. It feels like a secret spot. Try, try to not go when the tourists are there!
