The 20 minutes trip on the Zecca-Righi funicular railway takes you to a wonderful spot of Genova. From there you can see the whole city far away, and then start to walk through one the natural hiking trails. The panoramas are always breathtaking, and the tour of the strongholds is also fascinating.

We visited Genoa for the day by ship, we like a challenge and I thought it would be great to climb to the top of the hill at the back of Genoa. We climbed the steps to the top, brilliant views at the top of each set of stairs, well worth the effort. To come down we used the Zecca-Righi Funicular which was also a great experience. Our day ticket allowed us to use all the transport in Genoa, in our opinion absolutely brilliant value.

Easy to use funicolare (ticket machine in the entrance), the service runs fairly regularly throughout the day, we got off at the last stop, the views from there are good and walked down. Sadly theres very little to see during the ride as much of it is covered or in a tunnel.

The funicolare only takes 15 minutes to arrive at the top - no memorable views to see on the way up, passing thru several tunnels - you can purchase a ticket at the entrance for 1.60E pp. This mode of transportation is part of the local system and used by locals and a few tourists. After arriving you can take in the views of Genoa, visit one of the forts which you can choose from a map on the wall, take-in lunch, coffee, etc as there are restaurants in the immediate area. Your ticket allows you to return within 100 minutes from validation so there is plenty of time to look around. This was a nice distraction from the busy streets of Genoa.

Nice views of Genua both from the train itself as from the panoramic platform at the highest station. The train itself is free and runs several times an hour from +/- 7am until 24:00.

This is a must do activity when visiting Genoa as you get some fantastic panoramic views of the whole city.
Tickets cost €1.50 per adult which you can buy from a machine at the station, make sure you validate it in the yellow box before boarding. Your ticket is then valid for all travel for the next 100 minutes.
The tram runs every 15 mins on weekdays and is a short ride up the hill to Righi (there are 5 or so stops in between). At the top, there’s a suggested 90 min walk which takes in various viewpoints and the historic forts.
Don’t bother with the “panoramic view” on top of the station at Righi as there are tall trees in the way of any sort of view! Best to walk 5-10 mins up the hill outside the station for the first real viewpoint.

Fun and efficient trip up to the hills on the outskirts of Genoa. Views are great, but there’s not a massive amount to see in the immediate vicinity once you arrive at the top (beyond the views of course). There is a fort which you can walk to within 15 minutes, but there are no sign posts directing you, so it’s a bit of luck if you end up actually finding it...

Took this funicula to the top where there is a viewing platform to admire Genoa. We walked further up the Via del Peralto, passed the Ostaia du Richetto where we got a gelato each and continued our walk enjoying the views down both sides of the hill. You are walking in a National Park. Found a nice spot to stop and enjoy the sun, the wild flowers and the butterflies. There are places for picnics if you want to get out of the town and enjoy something diferent. A ticket to the top cost 1.50 euros, and as with most tickets needed to be validated before travel. Easy to purchase at a machine at the bottom.

We really enjoyed the ride up and seeing the change in landscape and perspective of the city. You can buy a ticket from the ticket machine and then validate the ticket in one of the yellow machines before you get on. At a mere €1.50 it is a must! At the top there are beautiful views of Genoa and back inland to the mountains, there's lovely restaurants for food, an old observatory which is pretty! You can do walks around here but we didn't have time - I imagine they are beautiful though. Definitely worth a trip!

Сколько стоит билет? Сколько ехать по времени? Стоит ли вообще ехать на нем?
Written 18 February 2018
