Simple reminder of an ancient day. Keep going up the hill to discover the Archeology museum. Worth the trip.

The attraction is a little bit far from the center. Visiting it worth not for the Arco itself but for the nice restaurant it is surrounded by. Take a look if you have enough time

It's a wonder that Richard's Arch survived the urban encroachment. The Arch itself isn't particularly picturesque but it is set in a lovely part of town - narrow unspoiled streets, steep alleys, interesting churches and attractive traditional dwellings.

Next to the one of the most romantic square in Trieste piazza Barbacan was Roman gate. Thanks to emperator Augustus who built them in the heart of old Trieste. Why Riccardo? Some recall legendary events like the passage of  Richard the Lionheart this city... It's free...More

Very cool, very old, very Roman stone arch built into adjacent building once upon a time a long time ago. It was a surprise find, tucked behind some small buildings, near the sea port. Nice photo opportunity. Not very exciting or magnificent, but still standing.

Stumbled upon this place by chance when strolling through the city. It is just an arche but obviously a very old one and is nicely preserved over time,

Truly awe inspiring to be up close to this arch which has been in place since the Roman Empire. Also close by is further reminiscence of the structure which is the subject of an active archaeological dig

Well preserved arch located on a side street. Another portion of the connecting wall is located inside the adjoining restaurant. The arch is accessible, you can walk under it.

In most places it would be a major attraction, but there is so much more in Trieste it is a little overshadowed.

I made the walk up the hill to find this gem. I was struck by the thought of the history is has seen. It is right in the path so you can get very close to it.
