Ancient southern access to the center of Rimini.

This morning I went to these parts to find a non-crowded place to have breakfast and so I saw this Roman ruin dating back to the first century BC up close. I read the story on the sign nearby and so I learned that the gate was the access from the south to the center of Rimini until the Second World War. Today access is pedestrian only but the gate is more useful than ever for pedestrians who can pass under it, as walking on the outer sides of the gate is extremely dangerous due to the numerous bicycles whizzing past at high speed.

A piece of history

July 2022

These are the remains of the original fortifications from the 1st century BC. It's a small inconspicuous piece of this city's history. If you are not interested in ancient art, this monument won't be interesting to you much.

Arch of the I century B.C. !!

The construction of the Porta Montanara, also called St. Andrew’s Door, dates back to the I century B.C. The rounded arch, in blocks of sandstone, was one of the two entrances of the door that allowed access to the city for those coming from Via Aretina

Waste of walk

A bunch of old, useless stones. Definitely not worth visiting, not after Arco D'Augusto, which is near it. It will break your positive opinion about old stones.
