A beautiful cathedral- we were visiting with a local friend and not only did her parents get married in there, but she got christened in there too! Please note- just near the cathedral is a small but lovely little botanical garden, really worth a visit...More

Two really ornate side chapels and a lovely altar. This is the working Cathedral of Ravenna. Make a quick visit on your way to the way to the Chapel of St Andrew.

The problem with this cathedral is that there are so many outstanding religious buildings in Ravenna that really this one is nowhere near the most impressive, but still has enough features to warrant a visit

Its near to Neoniano and though not as impressive as the display in the other key sites, no harm visiting if on the way to Neoniano and if time permits.

The Duomo and capella stand on their own; however, as newer additions to Ravenna, they simply cannot rival San Vitale and other mosaic-laden gems. Nonetheless, a stop inside reveals some more contemporary work in Ravenna, complete with a shrine of St. Theresa of Calcutta.

Perhaps not the most attractive religious building in Ravenna but it is big. Of more interest is the adjacent museum, containing many artifacts of the later western empire.

You will pass the cathedral on the way to the Baptistery of Neon which is located to the right of it so you might as well stop there. In comparison to the UNESCO sites the cathedral decorations look modest. Free entry in the morning hours.

Far less impressive than other cathedrals I've been to, still worth a quick stroll through to see some paintings.

A small town but full of unusual things to see and enjoy. Beautifully maintained monuments and though old, all are maintained so well. Statues to see, carvings to enjoy and think of the history that has shaped our world!!!
