We arrived in Parma the week before the opera seson began. I would have liked to see the theatre at least if I could not see an opera. However it was not possible to take the theatre tour as it had been cancelled due to...More

During the Verdi festival, I attended an opera (Falstaff) and a concert (Verdi's Requiem). The theater is beautiful. Take a look up at the medallion in the ceiling. It reminded me of La Scala, but smaller, more intimate and more accessible. I definitely recommend trying...More

On our first visit to Parma we couldn't get in. Now we have several tickets with the Verdi festival. It is a beautiful opera house, and the performances were great.

We took the short tour and although it was only in Italian we got a good enough historical description. You only visit the Stalls and Entrance areas but this is sufficient to give you a visual flavour of this wonderful old building. I am not...More

Parma audiences are highly opinionated and perhaps somewhat provincial, but it is a very special experience to attend opera with people who CARE about it and take it seriously. This is a soberly elegant theater that is about 200 years old. There are interesting performances...More

we had a tour round the theatre. not a big trip, but well worth seeing. beautiful layout, decor and ambience. I'm not one for an opera, but probably would have given it a go in this location. maybe next time round.
