A great place for fresh food, balsamic vinegar tasting and dining

We visited the markets during a day trip from Bologna via train. This is a great place to taste and buy balsamic vinegar. The vendors are very friendly and accommodating with our limited Italian! There are many stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, seafood, desserts (e.g cannoli) , wine etc etc. We found a small shop that made the local specialty tortellini in brodo (broth). We watched the cook make it. It was served in a takeaway cup and it was delicious! The cannoli from Delizie was amazing and excellent value for €3. The markets are popular with the locals, so consider coming here to buy food if you are self-catering. There are plenty of dining options for lunch and dinner.

This market was a feast to behold, high quality foods from raw ingredients to pre-prepared meals that just needed to be heated. We arrived early and enjoyed wondering around until we decided what we would purchase for lunch.

Good place to spend a morning/early afternoon and have lunch.

I always love going to all the different markets when I travel and this one didn’t disappoint. Fresh fruits, meats, cheese, fish, pastas, bakery items, side dishes, this market has it all plus many restaurants to try. It’s always a pleasure to walk around and soak in the local experience.

There are a number of places to eat and I would recommend 2 restaurants to try in the market. Balsamico e Cucina – Monari Federzoni & Da Sergio "Abruzzo e le sue meraviglie " both are good for lunch or an afternoon snack.

Great place to purchase gifts for the people back home.

Fresh from the farm

Could have stayed all day! Great place not only for buying fresh products, but an excellent water hole to sit down, sip a glas of nice wine, have a snack and watch people pass by.
There are several places where you can sit down for this. We picked one randomly and had a great time.

Modena’s historic market

Fresh is the word that comes to mind. If you are in Modena do t miss it. You could actually eat in this place. Unfortunately we were passing through and did not have time. But all the meat, the cold cuts, the vegetables were looking at their peak.

Lovely mix of fresh foods stands

A lovely little covered market full of different food stands and sellers. There are many options selling fresh pasta, bread, pastries, vegetables, dairy and butchers. There are also some restaurants if you want to eat there.

Prices are no higher than elsewhere in the city and the choice is very good. We found all the ingredients we needed for an excellent lunch and dinner at home. We especially appreciated Marisa's fresh pasta stand.

The market operates in the morning and until the early afternoon and was not too busy when we visited around midday on a rainy day.

Amazing indoor food market not to miss!

Wonderful food hall / market with super friendly vendors. Excellent quality produce, cheeses, breads, pastries and more. We bought lovely items to take home, and also sampled local specialties at two of the little wine bar / restaurant-type areas inside. Fantastic option if you don’t want a full meal / traditional restaurant environment or prefer to taste lots of things rather than commit to one dish.

Da Sergio is the best. Looks like a delicatessen and it is but also a fantastic place to have a lunch of meat and cheese and a glass of lambrusco. The man who runs it was rushed off his feet but was courteous and friendly to us and presented us with the best platter I have ever tried. Thoroughly recommend 100/100

A treasure of A Market Place

What an amazing market! I had such an enjoyable morning walking thru the market seeing the amazing produce, meats, cheeses and local ingredients. This is truly a gem of a place. We met so many friendly and attentive stall owners and enjoyed our time here.

Gentilissima Adriana rispondo solo ora perchè erano in via di cambiamento: OPERATORI dal lunedì al sabato dalle 7 alle 15; sabato pomeriggio dalle 16.30 alle 19.30 (dal 15 settembre al 31 maggio). RISTORATORI dal martedì al sabato dalle 9 alle 15 dal martedì al sabato dalle 18 alle 24 domenica sera dalle 18 alle 22. Ecco qui. A breve compariranno anche sui vetri del Mercato. A presto!

Buon giorno, purtroppo visto solo ora la sua domanda. Gli orari erano riportati, come tutti gli anni, nei post di facebook e sul sito web del Mercato nella sezione EVENTI E NOVITA' Poi nel sito ci sono anche gli orari abituali che sono sempre gli stessi per 12 mesi. Nella speranza sia riusciata a farci visita, auguri di Buon Anno!

Hi there, the Market will be open: on Decembre 30th from 6.30 am to 2.30 pm on Decembre 31st martedì 31 dicembre, from 6.30 am to 4 pm on January 1st closed on January 2nd from 6.30 am to 2.30 pm. My dear, not much. Museums and some restaurants. The Market is open from Mondays to Saturdays. The shops are owned by little entrepreneurs who run the business by themselves. It means that it is impossible to be opened 7 days a week, but we are more than happy to welcome you any time.

I cani al momento non sono ammessi, ma se sono di piccola taglia al guinzaglio, nessuno dice nulla. A breve verrà organizzata un'area cani esterna protetta e all'interno 4 carrelli su cui caricare i pelosetti.

Penso di si, ultimamente hanno aperto nella zona interna uno spazio per le degustazioni con tavolini, fanno aperitivi serali il venerdì e al sabato direi. Chiama comunque in Puazza Grande lo Iat di Modena, loro ti sapranno dire con sicurezza. Il mercato é aperto dal lunedì al sabato, se capiti in settimana chiude però alle 15. Ti consiglio comunque di visitarlo anche perché si trova a 50 metri dal Duomo che visiterai sicuramente.
