The Romanesque duomo is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We were very surprised to find out that it's completely free to enter and that it was not crowded on a Sunday in September. There were only a handful of people when we visited around 2pm. Tranquil and beautiful.

The 11th Century cathedral (the Duomo) is very solid-looking Romanesque, especially when compared to the almost airily graceful Torre Ghirlandina a block behind it. Both feature white and light gray stripes of marble. The façade of the cathedral is relatively restrained, with narrow horizontal bas-reliefs. The famous rose windows of clear, not stained, glass casts some light into the otherwise... More

Must see the Modena Cathedral. Very pleasant visit. The chorus in the upstair floor is magnificent. Also the colored glass over the entrance is a piece of art

Maybe the Duomo is not impressive in terms of size as other churches in Italy but both its exterior and interior are full of discoveries. I particularly like the terra-cotta opera in the left side, among other precious parts. Discover yourself!

Peaceful, beautiful, not 'over the top' cathedral. In fact the whole of Modena was the same. Definitely recommend visiting if you're anywhere near here.

The Cathedral of Modena is wonderful. I've been in different cathedrals and churches in Italy, but this fascinates me specifically. It is one of the sites that must see and feel its atmosphere of calm and peace.
