About
Discover the passion and skill involved in making a Maserati by going on a tour of the Modena plant. Factory tours run, by appointment only, from Monday to Friday (excluding Italian public holidays, and during the month of August and the Christmas period). The 90-minute guided tour takes in the showroom and store, assembly line, testing and finishing areas. If you’re short of time, 30-min showroom tours are also possible, which include a brand history presentation, a walk-around of cars currently in production, the car configurator area and architect Ron Arad’s famous “loop” sculpture. This profile is managed by Modenatur, Maserati’s official factory tour booking center. The showroom and plant are closed in August

A far more engaging and interesting tour than the ferrari tour. You get to go inside the factory line and see up close the construction of the MC20. Compared to Ferraris tour which was just a bus ride pointing out buildings, maseratis tour is far more engaging. Tour groups are small aswell so that helps. If you want to go to a museum go to ferrari, if you want a proper factory tour go to maserati

i have always love visiting factories to understand how things are made.

and finally, i get to see how a car (maserati, no less) is assembled.

visits are only possible Mon-Fri, and well, that is the time you want to be here anyway since there are workers around.

the visit is 90 min long, and you will be led around the showroom, assembly room, innovation lab, paint room, testing room, etc

there are a lot of manual work involved in assembling this 250-300K euros car, although robots are also being used.

the biggest customer market for maserati is USA and UAE

no photography is allowed except in showroom

You must check this place out. If you want to know everything there is to know about the brand and its history this is the place to go. I went to a few other exotic car museums and showrooms but this one takes the cake. The gentleman that greeted me was Alessandro, he is a wealth of knowledge. This gentleman knows everything there is to know about Maserati. I had such an amazing time just speaking to him and checking out the cars. Send them an email and schedule a factory tour, it will be the best thing you ever do.

Just up the road from the Modena Ferrari museum road works made it difficult to find the car park but once there just push the button for access.
Plenty of time to check out all the cars in the showroom, open them up and sit in them and try not to drool too much.
The tour starts with an explanation of how it all started, was disrupted by two wars and how it was taken over several times to evolve into what it is now.
The actual tour was brilliant, walking along side the production line you can see how individual cars come together. This factory makes 19 cars a day and the level of quality control is excellent. The tour takes in assembly, testing and final inspection.

This tour of the assembly line led by Luca was most interesting and reinforced the notion that Maserati cars have no parallel in terms of attention to detail and engineering. Luca was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of manufacture and his English was excellent. He also had a tremendous grasp of the history of the car.The tour cost 30 Euros and lasts about 90 minutes.Catch the train to Modena as it is only 10 minutes walking top the showroom and factory. You can buy some local olive oil on the way home.

Very informative and interesting tour of the Maserati showroom and factory.
The showroom had all the current models on display and we were allowed to touch them and sit in them.

We were given a brief introduction to the formation of the company by the Maserati brothers and the subsequent takeovers by Orsi, Citroen and de Tomaso. There was a fascinating display showing scale models of most of Maserati's output since the company's inception, highlighting the diversion from racing to consumer cars.

On the factory tour we were shown the assembly and testing areas. I previously did the tour about 7 years ago and the tour this time was simply unbelievable how much more modern the factory has become.

During the tour we were given some information into the new models which are very likely to be at Geneva in 2020.

Note that we could take photos in the showroom but photography was strictly forbidden in the factory.

Thoroughly recommended.

If you go to Modena, a Maserati factory tour is a must! Pietro, our tour guide was the best! My wife and I were lucky that we received a private tour by Pietro, who provided us with insights on many aspects of the factory floor. To see how my GT was built made me appreciate even more the craftsmanship that goes into every car.

The visit was much more we did expect. First and last we did have an opportunity to visit the showroom. And between we did have a factory tour to the whole assembly line. They do assembly 2 models of Maserati (Granturismo and Cabriolet) and also Alfa Romeo 4C. Our guide was excellent and did tell us very many interesting things.

This tour was amazing. Even my wife, who begrudgingly went along with me, found it so interesting that even she was not bored

Regardless of being a Maserati the entire process of hand building a car, being as close to them building the cars as you are, and the various other buildings you visit (paint shop, engine assembly, car testing building, engine testing, R&E building) was unbelievable.

The assembly building is essentially rows of stations (maybe 10-x20?) where each station they are are adding something to the car. You are standing maybe 5-10 feet from the car and mechanics. The cars is on kind of a sled which they move to the next station. The first station had the metal frame on the sled and them lowering in and installing the passenger cabin mold. Other stations we saw them drop an engine in, or put the painted panels on ...all the way to putting the wheels on and driving it off to the testing building.

Everything was by hand. No robots...other than in the paint building where I was mesmerized watching the robotic arms painting the panels, side mirrors etc. (all the parts to be painted are put on a sled too with each part placed in a way that all the panels and parts to the car can be pained at once. The painted panels are then installed on the car in the assembly building).

Even in the engine assembly building, where the workers were in a clean room and wearing white jumpsuits, and we looked through glass, we were fascinated watching them put the engines together...and another building where they were testing the enginges.

This is a tour not to be missed.

BTW, they did not give me very good instructions on where to park or where to go for the entrance. I pulled in to the driveway and went to the guard booth. They spoke no English and were no help...other than to make it clear I needed to get out of there. I called the tour line and they were very helpful in telling me where to park ...which was a big parking garage just a block away on the other side of the main street . We then walked back to the security booth and found the tour people right near there checking people off the list.

At the time we we were there in May 2023, the tour was free to owners, and 50 euros a person otherwise.
