Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The building sits right on the main Plaza in the center of the city. The inside of the building is beautiful. However, make sure to visit Scavi Archeologici in the basement. You can see ancient ruins from the past. Nothing fancy but very interesting

I am envious of the burghers of Bologna who have daily access to a public library set in a former palace whose main room has arcades on three floors beneath a highly decorated ceiling and feels more like a giant temple. There is a cafe on one side. Separate reading rooms are situated on a lower level. On the first floor is a multi-media display of the entire Bologna metropolitan area.

Bologna's main public library, housed in the old Palazzo d'Accursio and located opposite the Statue of Neptune. It is free to enter. The ceiling is lovely and there are Roman ruins visible under a glass floor. Apparently it is possible to go to the basement to see them, but I was only told this after my visit. There is a very good snack bar/restaurant within the library, where I had lunch, and recommend it. Biblioteca Salaborsa is well worth a visit, whether or not you're a book lover.

Great library. Very good for small children. The ruins underneath are not super interesting. You can't see much of them through the glass floor. Go down to the basement and you can walk around among the ruins.

It doesn't matter if you speak italian or not. Even walking in that building is amazing. You can enter the biblioteca and browse the books and no one really asks you for a library car or something similar. I even asked a lady in the desk what it takes to get a library card if i am not an italian citizen. Inside there is also a little cafe - bar, an excellent choice for a quick break for reading. Upstairs, there is a more quiet reading area for those who want to study, a movie section and a magazine section. Underground, there are some ancient ruins that you can visit, and you can give a small donation , there is not a ticket. I really found some interesting books about freediving, and plenty of comic books.

We wandered in here by accident and it turned out to be one of our favorite spots in Bologna. There's a great cafe just outside the huge central atrium. And the ruins underneath are definitely worth a visit. There was a book reading going on and we enjoyed being part of the local culture.

A beautiful library to visit, a photo exposition was at display when we visited. The 3 floors are Beautiful each in their own way. The top gives you a great overview, the second a nice place to sit and part of the collection to admire. The ground floor has a cafe to relax.

This is a beautiful building, well used by students and locals. There is a cafe and it has toilets. We went to see the archaeological remains which are located under the floor of the building but visible through a glass ceiling/floor. This is free but asks for a donation and is well worth a visit.

Is entering the library free or with payment? If yes then how much do I need to pay?

The common area is free, they have some attractions that you need to pay, as Bologna Ruins that you can see more than. 2000years, but it is small. I have a library card that is free for residents, sorry I don’t know the cost, but to pass trough is free, enjoy...
